Description

Hampden-Sydney College has an immediate opening for a Multi-trades Technician. Reporting to the MEP Supervisor, the Multi-trades Technician performs a variety of maintenance services, repair duties and installation involving the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades. Assists with preventative maintenance tasks as needed. This position participates in the MEP shop’s on-call rotation.

Qualifications


Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills in determining appropriate repair methods, be self-motivated, self-supervising with excellent customer service and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations. Prioritize work orders and job assignments. A valid Virginia driver’s license and high school diploma or GED are required. Must be able to lift and carry heavy loads, up to 50 pounds. Five years of experience within the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades, Journeyman Plumber license and CFC license preferred. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to climb and maintain balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch in confined and dimly lit spaces; Ability to lift 50lbs; Able to perform job duties in inclement weather and other adverse conditions (high precarious places, toxic or caustic chemical usage areas, risk of electrical shock, near moving mechanical parts, high noise level areas, extreme heat or cold non-weather related).Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
