Description

Hampden-Sydney College invites applications for Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship. Reporting to the Vice President of College Advancement, the Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship works in tandem with the entire Advancement team to lead the stewardship initiatives for all donors to Hampden-Sydney College. This position has direct responsibility for donor recognition, donor events, donor acknowledgements, and the management of donor giving societies. In addition, the Director will create strategies for donor recognition opportunities and individual donor stewardship plans. This will include an annual report and regular publications. Additionally, this position is responsible for writing various correspondence pieces and impact statements, and leading special events for prospects and donors. The Director will be a liaison with the Development Administrator and Campaign Manager and the Director of College Events. The position may be located in Farmville, VA, or may work remotely with frequent travel to campus from a region within driving distance of Hampden-Sydney College for all Donor Relations led or all-team events (home football games including Family Weekend and Homecoming, Donor Society Events, Reunion Weekend, Campaign Events, etc.).

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, as well 5-10 years of relevant work experience, preferable in higher education.
  • Must possess exceptional writing skills.
  • Independent thinking, creativity, and initiative are essential.
  • Event management expertise required.
  • Occasional evening and pre-planned occasional weekend work required for specific College functions.
  • The ability to work independently and with an extraordinarily high degree of initiative while serving internal and external constituents with the highest degree of tact, confidentiality, and professionalism is needed. A commitment to excellence and exceptional attention to detail are essential.
  • Independent judgment essential to plan, prioritize, and organize workload and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and the ability to maintain highest levels of confidentiality are essential.
  • Adaptability and a sense of humor are expected.
  • Must have excellent technology skills, particularly with MS Office programs and constituent relations management systems, as well as skill with social media platforms.
  • Must have ability to travel as needed.
