Hammond Middle School seeks a dynamic and innovative individual committed to teaching the whole child. Ideally, this teacher will demonstrate intellectual curiosity and be committed to a student-centered classroom. This full-time exempt position requires teaching history through instilling in students an understanding of the past to fully grasp the present and create a better future. Candidates of interest must be supportive, organized, and able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and administrators. The ideal candidate will possess classroom experience at the middle or upper elementary school level (5-8); candidates with strong credentials, related experience, and outstanding references may be considered.
We seek teachers who believe in differentiated and developmentally aligned models of teaching and learning to push students to their personal highest level of achievement. We understand the importance of instructional design, and we are attuned to the social and emotional growth of young adolescent students. All candidates must demonstrate the ability to incorporate a variety of instructional methods and strategies to address a variety of learning styles and possess a record of excelling in a collegial environment.
Required: Bachelor's degree or higher with a major in History, Education, or related field. Graduate work preferred.
Reporting: The Middle School Social Studies Teacher reports to the Head of Middle School.
