Perform duties that are instructional in nature and deliver direct literacy intervention services to students. Serve in a position for which the District Elementary Literacy Specialist has ultimate responsibility for the design of educational programs and services. Strong candidates should have the ability to be flexible, work as part of a team, work with small groups of students, communicate professionally, and has strong self-initiative. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Works with the District Elementary Literacy Specialist in planning and implementing a program of instruction that adheres to the schools philosophy, goals and objectives.Works with the District Elementary Literacy Specialist in making purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that provide for effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task.Works with the District Elementary Literacy Specialist in planning and implementing a program of study designed to meet individual needs of students.Works with the District Elementary Literacy Specialist and teacher in creating a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies.Works with the District Elementary Literacy Specialist and classroom teachers in providing progress through formal and informal assessments.Uses effective oral and written expression to document student progress and share with classroom teachers.Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teachers in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal laws.
