Job Summary This position primarily will be responsible for managing the transition of manufacturing method projects (i.e. fabrication to molded process, etc.) and leading Type 0 AIM projects which involve product line extensions under the supervision of the Product Design and Development Manager. In addition, this individual will ensure that the engineering project launches are complete and accurate in order to meet the required deadlines and stay within budget (including review of new extrusion dies, molds, splice molds, equipment installation design, costing and equipment review). Principal Responsibilities Review existing products for cost, quality, production outputs and efficiencies to make recommendations for potential products to change manufacturing methods. Preparing justifications for the recommended product manufacturing method changes (i.e. preparing costing differences, quality impacts, required tooling and equipment investments etc. and documenting this information on the required Control Change Form “CCF”) Upon approval of the CCF, Manage and track the transition of manufacturing method projects including: obtaining costs for new tooling and equipment as required. ensure all dimensions, physical properties and production outputs are met as per original planned targets using the new manufacturing method Prepare samples for approval to internal and external customers as required. Review project post launch with department manager ensuring the timelines are met and costing is within budget Responsible for managing the development of extension products to existing product lines following the AIM process and maintaining the associated documentation Conceives the conception of tooling projects through CAD systems and engineering skills to upgrade machinery or process. Participate in AIM innovation projects, develop products for innovation as required. Responsible for product development duties such as testing in house and with customers as needed. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills & Qualifications Completion of post-secondary degree or diploma in engineering or technology. Over three years’ experience in a rubber and / or plastics manufacturing environment. PLC Controls, Robotics or Automation experience is preferable but not essential Excellent knowledge of MS Office and AutoCAD software Good work ethic and ability to work independently Takes initiative and ownership of tasks and projects. Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills Ability to use judgement based on previous practices and procedures.
