FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager

Hamilton Health Center is the only Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Dauphin County and continues to grow using a holistic and comprehensive approach to being patient centered. JOB SUMMARY

The Facilities Tech (I, II, III) is responsible for carrying out several duties within the Facilities Department to ensure that Hamilton is a clean and safe environment for employees, clients and visitors by providing security, light inside and outside hands-on general maintenance and general custodial services at all of Hamilton’s facilities in accordance with all regulatory guidelines and Hamilton’s policies, procedures and protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Facilities Tech I performs a wide range of duties, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Maintain a safe, secure, clean and efficient environment for all individuals on/around Hamilton operated facilities.
  • Report any unusual conditions of malfunctioning systems throughout the facility to Supervisor.
  • Ensure that safety and health procedures are followed as directed by Facilities Manager and/or established policy.
  • Monitor facility building and grounds to prevent theft, vandalism and illegal activity.
  • Monitor and report all safety issues to facilities management.
  • Perform periodic safety inspections as scheduled.
  • Show high visibility and interact as much as possible with patient and staff in positive manner, assisting visitors and directing visitors to proper destination.
  • Collect, sort and distribute incoming and interoffice mail throughout facility.
  • Operate postage meter.
  • Accept deliveries as needed.
  • Redirect Hamilton employees and visitors who are in violation of our Smoking/Tobacco Use and Parking Policies and report repeat offenders to Facilities Management.
  • Make minor HVAC, plumbing and electrical repairs based on competency, as directed.
  • Change HVAC filters and perform other preventive maintenance tasks based on competency, as directed.
  • Assist in the distribution of supplies and storage of records.
  • Complete interior and exterior painting based on competency, as directed.
  • Conduct light carpentry based on competency, as directed.
  • Assist in snow removal and application of ice melt.
  • Assist with movement of furniture and supplies as directed.
  • Assist with routine removal of trash and hazardous waste.
  • Maintain outside walk areas including sweeping and washing debris.
  • Maintain landscape appearance, keeping areas free of debris.
  • Routinely perform quality inspections of contracted services and report findings to facilities management.
  • Performs housekeeping and cleaning activities within well established guidelines and assigned areas and ensure that quality standards, safety guidelines and customer service expectations are met.
  • Inventory control of all cleaning supplies, including ordering, receiving and re-stocks of supplies
  • Perform routine inspections and regular up keep of interior and exterior areas to ensure areas are free of hazards and trash.
  • Follows infection control and universal precautions policies and procedures to ensure that a sanitary environment is maintained.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security rules when providing information to internal and external sources.
  • Attend meetings, develop weekly/monthly/yearly reports and deliver presentations /reports to internal and external stakeholders, as required.
  • Maintain open communication lines with patients and staff.
  • Work within the parameters as defined by Hamilton’s Quality Department and follow established protocols to meet the requirements of regulatory agencies.
  • Participates in the Hamilton’s efforts related to revenue cycle, which include but are not limited to: achieving goals for productivity; meeting or exceeding revenue targets; and expense management as budgeted.

  • Travel throughout the service areas as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education/Certifications: High School diploma or equivalent, required.

Must have a valid drivers’ license, reliable transportation and current vehicle insurance to travel throughout the service area and able to work evenings/extended hours including weekends as needed, required.

Knowledgeable of HVAC and bi-lingual, preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blue prints and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with co-workers, internal and external customers, and outside contractors and vendors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING SKILLS
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/MOTOR COORDINATION
Requires hand-eye coordination; finger dexterity, and a combination of sitting, standing, climbing, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 40 pounds).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to routine medical office/health clinic conditions as well as adverse environmental conditions such as dust, temperature and noise extremes, etc. May be exposed to infectious or contagious disease.
