Description

The Hamilton County Health Department has a responsibility to respond quickly and efficiently when public health emergencies occur. All Hamilton County Health Department employees are responsible for ensuring their contact information is current and they are accessible should a public health emergency arise. The Hamilton County Health Department maintains a call down system to store contact information and mobilize staff in the event of an emergency. During a public health emergency, all staff are required to respond should a call to mobilize be made. During a public health emergency, work hours for any and all Hamilton County Health Department employees are subject to modification to meet the needs of the community.

Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, and conducts public health education activities, training classes, exhibits and special educational campaigns.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, physical requirements, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or a closely related field specific to the area of assignment, with one (1) year of experience in group facilitation and public speaking. Must possess a valid driver's license.

OR

An Associate's Degree in Public Health or a closely related field specific to the area of assignment, with three (3) years of experience in group facilitation and public speaking. Must possess a valid driver's license.

OR

A High School Diploma or the equivalent and five (5) years of experience in group facilitation and public speaking. Must possess a valid driver's license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work requires transporting and setting up presentation and display exhibits with materials and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds depending on the health education activity with possible exposure to infectious diseases, body fluids, cleaning, and disinfecting supplies. May work outside normal business hours when conducting presentations, site, or home visits. May work outdoors for events and other assignments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

BILINGUAL – ENGLISH/SPANISH IS PREFERRED FOR ALL PROGRAMS

Experience with community engagement with diverse youth populations is preferred.
