We serve the residents of Hamilton County in more ways than you may realize. As the Equipment Operator 1, your primary role includes operating a range of light hand equipment to assist in installing, repairing, and maintaining water and sewer infrastructure. You will also operate vehicles to transport the necessary materials for the project. Post-project duties such as restoring streets to their original condition and submitting reports reflecting the work performed will complement your fieldwork.
Summary of Job Duties:
  • Operates jackhammer, chain cutter, welding torch, and a variety of other power drills and hand tools to perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks to install, repair, and maintain water and sewer lines, mains, hydrants, and other related components.
  • Operates motorized equipment (e.g., backhoe, dump truck, dozer, loader, crane, etc.) to dig and haul materials (e.g., sand, gravel, concrete, pipe, etc.) and install and repair water and sewer lines, mains, hydrants, and other related components.
  • May serve as crew leader as assigned on a project-to-project basis; delegates tasks, evaluates performance; monitors work in progress to ensure project meets department quality standards and regulations; may transport crew to and from worksite; secures equipment and materials as needed.
  • Restores lawn and streets to original condition after completing assigned work projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Training and/or work experience in maintenance of water/sewer lines, hydrants, mains and other related components
  • in operating jackhammer, chain cutters, etc. and maintenance practices
  • must obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License - Class A within six (6) months of employment
  • Works outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Regularly required to perform manual labor such as: lifting, digging, and climbing
  • Works in confined spaces and awkward positions that require bending and twisting
  • operates heavy equipment
Work Location and Hours:
  • Field Operations- 10486 Burlington Rd.
  • 40 Hour Work Week, generally between core hours of 7:30-5:30
