Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Logistics Department, Buyer/Planner will be responsible for the execution of production scheduling, purchasing functions, and the development of control measures to prevent shortages for assigned projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate production material activities for manufacturing products. This involves the creation and execution of purchase orders and work orders in order to maintain production schedule.
  • Review MRP reports to provide accurate and timely resolution of material shortages.
  • Resolve any late work orders and define schedule recovery. Daily review of work order status and update of work order due dates is required.
  • Monitor safety stock levels, analyzing volatility, lead times, and system issues to recommend and set parameters to efficiently forecast/plan/deliver products.
  • Select and negotiate with approved vendors, for placing purchase order in response to material requirements.
  • Monitors and takes appropriate action on engineering change notices.
  • Manage effective dates as defined by ECO release. And work on new product release working closely with R&D Engineering.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently with general supervision.
  • Creativity.
  • Ability to work independently.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelors degree in business or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years of purchasing and/or production planning experience or experience in a related field required (five years preferred).
  • APICS and CPM certifications preferred.
  • Hands on experience with MRP processes and computer systems preferred.

Additional Information

  • Anticipated salary range is $60,000 - $75,000/year.
