Job Summary

The Interim Director of The Wallis Housing Program oversees and coordinates all the operations of the Wallis House. The Interim Director will ensure the delivery of services to all of our residents and supervise the program staff. The Interim Director will make decisions and recommendations for the program that can impact resident care and services, financial performance and viability, and program development and future growth of programs.

The Interim Director of the Wallis House is an energetic self-starter who is able to function comfortably in a team environment or independently and relates well to co-workers, residents, outside visitors and county representatives. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision. The individual in this position must be able to assume a wide range of responsibilities, provide timely responses to requests and deadlines and works well under pressure.

Essential Functions

  • Provides leadership to the program and directs the overall management, organization and operations of all services and related activities
  • Responsible for the programmatic development of the department including but not limited to, case management, life skills, daily operations.
  • Integrate the principle of trauma informed care, housing first, and harm reduction into program culture.
  • Oversees and coordinates with PATH, all Wallis House intakes and discharges
  • Establishes systems and relationships to maintain the program census
  • Participates in the Youth Coordinated Entry System to ensure appropriate referrals and compliance with expectations and outcomes
  • Ensures adherence to programmatic standards of documentation
  • Establishes, implements, and monitors department goals, objectives and outcomes in various areas including case management, life skills and housing stability
  • In conjunction with the AVP-FASH, oversees and monitors the program budget, participate in annual budgeting process by providing recommendations and information
  • Responsible for employee staffing, on-boarding, training, and supervision
  • Oversee all audits and corrective action plans
  • Interface with contracting agencies, community partners and advocacy organizations
  • Field internal and external complaints
  • Hold House meetings for residents
  • Work closely with agency volunteers to support program as needed
  • Collaborates with other agency programs and departments
  • Works to promote and support justice, equity, diversity and inclusion at all levels in the organization
  • Works to promote a trauma-informed work culture
  • Actively participate in a quality improvement project

The Interim Director of The Wallis Housing Program will take on special projects or additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

-Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education, or related mental health/human services field preferred.

-Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in residential or intensive behavioral health settings

-Experience working with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority or Community Care Licensing or similar agency strongly preferred.

Certifications/Licenses

-Valid CA driver’s license

Additional Requirements

-Tuberculosis clearance

-Department of Justice/Fingerprint clearance

-Satisfactory completion of health screening

-Proof of legal eligibility to work in the United States

-Satisfactory driving record

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of as Director of Interim Housing, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and use their fingers to manipulate a keyboard or writing instrument. The employee is occasionally required to walk, bend and lift objects heavier than ten pounds. The employee is occasionally required to drive.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily indoors. The noise level varies from quiet to moderate.
