Position Summary: Manages and directs the operations of Halperns’ Seafood production rooms. Leadership Competencies: Living the Culture: Exhibits Integrity and High Character Serves Others Hungry for Results Promotes a Diverse and Inclusive Workplace Leading People: Builds Strong Relationships Creates and Delivers a Winning Vision Communicates Effectively with all Groups of People Develops Individuals Producing Results Builds High Performance Teams Manages Individual Performance Plans, Organizes and Executes Work Leads Team to Produce Results Thinking and Decision Making Thinks Strategically Analyzes and Solves Problems Understands the Business Essential Functions: Develops and implements policies and procedures for various production activities including verification of Inventories, raw material usage, production yields, finished goods costing, scheduling, maintenance of finished goods inventories, handling and disposition of materials and maintenance of a current inventory. Performs inspections of physical condition of production facility and equipment. Prepares work orders for repairs or requisitions for replacement of equipment. Collaborates with department heads in the coordination of Production activities with other functions including warehouse, Transportation, sales, facilities, records control and purchasing. Directs salvage of damaged or used material. Collaborates in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities. Works with department heads and their staff to develop creative plans for operation systems and procedures that will improve customer service, safety, efficiency, accuracy, product care, sanitation and employee morale. Provides leadership, ensures adherence to Halperns’ policies and procedures and applies corrective action when required. Interviews, hires, trains, and retains staff. Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department. Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them. Works with Sr. Leadership to identify and develop future leaders. Develops capital and operational budget for the department. Routinely monitors, manages and controls budget, analyzes variances and takes appropriate action and develops plans for productivity improvements. Maintains relevant and updated knowledge and technical aptitude on current operations systems in order to utilize this knowledge to make educated, data driven decisions in everyday and emergent operational crisis. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Must have detailed knowledge of all meat production processes including breakdown of muscle groups for beef, pork, lamb and veal, portion control, value added and packaging. Must have detailed knowledge of function and use of processing and packaging equipment. Must have a good understanding of yields and production KPI Must have good written, verbal, organizational and communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities. Must have ability to prepare and deliver presentations and speak at minor functions as a departmental representative. Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment. Must be able to perform fundamental mathematical functions including concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Must be able to develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity and reference policies and practices for guidance. Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, email and internet software applications. Equipment / Tools / Technology: Desktop or laptop computer. Networked printer/ copier/ scanner. Google Applications (Chrome, Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, etc.) Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer) Telephone and Voicemail.
