Position Overview

The Medical Records Lead, will be responsible for managing requests regarding patients' health records and history. The personnel in this department will perform all tasks within defined expectations for productivity and quality, in an effort to ensure the integrity of the legal medical record. It will be required to abide by all HIPAA Privacy/Security regulations for the purpose of protecting and assuring that patient information will remain confidential.

Essential Job Functions

• Updating and completing the Clinical Task work list by the end of day 20%.
• Answer all incoming queue calls within 30 sec 20%.
• Releasing PHI to patient or outside facility daily 15%.
• Update / add accurate referring physician information to RIS system daily 10%.
• Other duties / projects as assigned by management 5%.
• Process all incoming medical requests by the end of the day 10%.
• Process and complete the daily distribution work list (Mammogram Lay Letters, fax error log,) 15%.
• Process image request work list daily 5%.

Non-Essential Job Functions

• Gather pertinent patient information.
• Frequently refer to company email for ALL requests addressed to medical records.
• Process incoming and outgoing mail.
• Process subpoena / attorney requests.
• Print discs and reports.

Requirements

Education Required

• High school graduate or equivalent

Previous Related Work Experience Required (include number of years)

• Prior medical office experience prefered but not necessary

Other Skills/Abilities

• Good communication skills.
• Accurate recording and documentation skills.
• Good telephone skills.
• Able to work in a timely manner under pressure.

Physical and Working Requirements of the Poison (such as job location, leaning, standing, etc.)

• Ability to lift greater than 25lbs.
• Extended leaning and standing.

Work Availability / hours required (standard, evenings, weekends, split shift, etc.)
