SUMMARY OF THE JOB:
The Program Chair of the School of Information Technology is accountable for the effective delivery of high-quality education and instruction, to include curriculum instructional development, education leading to industry-recognized certification of students, and dynamic coordination with other Hallmark University departments, The Program Chair should teach at least one course every other term.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides academic and administrative leadership to achieve critical school objectives (including graduation rates, professional certifications, employment placement rates for graduates, sound budgetary stewardship, and active stakeholder engagement).
  • Enables constructive and mutually reinforcing communication among students, faculty and staff to achieve critical school objectives.
  • Leads the Program Advisory Committees (PAC) for the school. Conducts meetings, sends information to partners between meetings, solicits their feedback and discussions and produces PAC attendance reports and minutes.
  • Evaluates university and school performance metrics and translates shortcomings into actionable remediation efforts.
  • Finalizes faculty recruitment, orientation, development, and other onboarding.
  • Assures that scheduled classes are assigned to prepared faculty with sufficient lead time.
  • Responsibly manages school budgets as business units with especial attention to reasonable cost-containment related to student textbooks, other learning resources, school supplies, and faculty instructional costs.
  • Spot checks faculty instructional delivery, both in person and online
  • Maintains current knowledge about experiential learning, industry-demanded skills, technical developments in the field, and in-demand soft skills.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Promotes experiential and cross-generational learning opportunities in business and technology for Hallmark University’s students, faculty, staff, alumni, industry partner advisors, philanthropic partners, and program participants.
  • Contributes publicly to the body of knowledge related to position responsibilities.
  • Supports Hallmark University’s Character Program into student class assignments, co-curricular and student club engagements, and in outreach activities, both in-person and virtually.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Requires strong computer and Internet research skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, project coordination experience (preferred), and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, outside clients and vendors. Sensitivity to confidential matters may be required.
  • Administrative, event planning, exam training/knowledge, skills and abilities as they apply to all work assignments
  • Able to multi-task, work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Able to promptly answer support related email, phone calls and other electronic communications
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized
  • Extensive experience in the IT field.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
  • Earned Master’s degree in information technology, cloud, or a cybersecurity discipline from an accredited university. A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in at least one academic discipline or concentration offered or aligned with courses in Hallmark’s School of Information Technology.
  • Two (2) years industry experience in information technology, cyber security, cloud, or related field.
  • Two (2) years or more cumulative fulltime employment in a work environment
  •  (for-profit, non-profit, university/college, governmental, or entrepreneurial
  •  company) aligned with one or more of the disciplines or concentrations taught in
  •  Hallmark’s School of Information Technology.
  • Two (2) years or more fulltime or part-time teaching as faculty and/or providing
  •  staff or program administration in a college, university, or other institutions
  •  approved for VA Benefits.
PREFERRED:
  • Earned Ph.D. or similar terminal (doctoral level) degree in information technology, cloud, or a cybersecurity discipline from an accredited university. A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in at least one academic discipline or concentration offered or aligned with courses in Hallmark’s School of Information Technology.
  • Five (5) years industry experience in information technology, cyber security, cloud, or related field.
  • Five (5) years or more cumulative fulltime employment in a work environment
  • (for-profit, non-profit, university/college, governmental, or entrepreneurial
  • company) aligned with one or more of the disciplines or concentrations taught in
  • Hallmark’s School of Information Technology.
  • Five (5) years or more fulltime teaching as faculty and/or providing staff or
  • program administration in a college, university, or other institutions approved for
  • VA Benefits.
  • Prior experience employed at a regionally accredited university or college supporting or leading functional preparations related to academic regional accreditation team visits for evaluation/renewal, orchestrated and documented remediation of noted shortfalls, and/or hosting or engaging constructively with accreditation officials and/or evaluation team members.
