Overview

Halifax Health is seeking an Instrument Technician for the Instrument Room.

Summary

The Instrument Tech cleans, prepares and sterilizes surgical supplies, reusable trays, equipment and miscellaneous items for the Operating Room by following established AORN guidelines. This individual assures efficient OR schedule by correctly preparing instrumentation, packs, and supplies for each use.

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • OR and/or central service experience preferred
  • Thorough understanding of aseptic technique
  • Operates sterilizers, sonic cleaner, computerized disinfector, sterilizer, Steris, and gas sealer machine.
  • Proper lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending techniques
