Located in Ontario, California, approximately 40 miles east of Los Angeles and centrally located near California’s and Mexico’s growing regions, we have year-round access to freshly harvested vegetables.

Summary

The PLC Technician is responsible for the safe installation and repair of electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment while following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment. Work in a manufacturing environment following appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the successful execution of position responsibilities.

Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities

• Replace faulty switches and other elements of electrical and mechanical systems. Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armature

• Troubleshoot, program, and maintain PLCs

• Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools

• Installs, repairs, overhauls, modifies, and maintains electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery

• Maintain plant power distribution systems, including performing preventive maintenance, and installing wiring, conduit, and apparatus

• Perform routine preventative maintenance activities on electrical panels and maintains a copy of all equipment programs as backups

• Assist in the preparation of various building components and systems for trades units and/or contractors, disassembles and install equipment and fixtures

• Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures, and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures

• Maintain and troubleshoot all VFDs, Motors/Wiring configurations, PLCs, Computers, Electrical Schematics, Control Circuits, and Preventive / Predictive maintenance

• Perform PLC Control level issue diagnosis and maintenance (Allen Bradley)

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components, photo-eyes, motor starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, etc.

• Collaborate and build relationships with all levels of the organization

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education & Experience

• Associates Degree in Electronics, Electronic Technology, or equivalent experience

• 3-5 years of experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance of industrial equipment and machinery including PLC

• 2 years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Control Systems troubleshooting/ programming

• 2 years of experience with Motor Controls (motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components)

• 2 years of experience with the repair of control network components

• 2 years of experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs

• 1 years of experience with HMI components

• 1 years of experience with Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting

• 1 year of experience working with computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

• Experience supporting a range of different conveyors and sortation systems

• Project Management experience with the ability to train others

• Experience with robotic maintenance

• Experience with AB RS LOGIX 5000 PLCs and PLC components

• Working knowledge and experience with Ladder Logic

• Working knowledge of electronic and electrical concepts and operating safety

• Working knowledge of and demonstrated ability to use electronic and electrical test equipment including digital and analog volt and ohm-meters, oscilloscopes, data analyzers, and circuit testers

• Knowledge of the current national electrical code

• Good math and computer skills are required.

• Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills, problem-solving and organizational skills

• Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety

• Demonstrate full knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures
