About the role

The US Head of Regulatory Affairs Wellness is a key strategic member of North American Regulatory Affairs Leadership Team (NA RA LT), directly accountable for all aspects of Regulatory Affairs across US Wellness portfolio (400 MM), encompassing regulatory policy and external engagement, front end innovation (FEI), business development assessments, innovation project delivery, and all lifecycle maintenance and compliance. As a key member of NA RA LT, you will drive RA functional capability to be fit for future across Wellness and serve as US lead on the Global RA Community of Practice as well as Global Lead Wellness Ingredient Working Group.

The US Head of Regulatory Affairs Wellness will work in close collaboration with Global Regulatory Community of Practice, actively advise Future Horizons Global Wellness Team on Regulatory path to market in the US to ensure successful Innovation conversion into the US BU, successfully navigating FDA regulatory landscape. You will shape, develop, mentor and sponsor talent within NA Regulatory Affairs team of ~7 colleagues to create a talent pipeline of Wellness RA leaders for the future. You will also drive an inclusive, positive culture and winning mindset in alignment with our company purpose.

Role responsibilities

  • Active Haleon Representative on Industry association, CHPA, and relevant Wellness associations in region and globally as appropriate

  • Lead Wellness regulatory intelligence evaluation and communication process to guide strategic portfolio choices.

  • Regulatory lead on governance and management of current/emerging wellness ingredient issues and risk management.

  • Set Wellness Regulatory Strategy for multi-category Innovation & Development and Product Maintenance across US portfolio of wellness brands.

  • Represent RA on BU PMB. Provide recommendation and guidance, contribute to deliver superior consumers solutions, and contribute to external advocacy and build Haleon as the authority on Trusted Science for everyday wellness / self-care.

  • Proactively manage and mitigate risks in coordination with key stakeholders (e.g. Marketing, Quality Supply Chain, Categories) including business continuity and regulatory/medical delivery of maintenance projects in collaboration with QSC.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences.

  • 12 years of Regulatory Affairs leadership experience with track record of external influence.

  • Category experience in consumer wellness/healthcare e.g. Vitamins, Supplements & Minerals.

  • Experience in consumer healthcare, nutritional and/or FMCG.

  • Senior level leadership of other senior R&D leaders and ability to influence and collaborate cross-functionally to co-create and deliver shared goals.

  • Mentor, developer of talent, sponsor and advocate of diversity and inclusion.

  • Experience working for a multi-national company desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Advanced Degree in Life Sciences, passionate about and excited by the Science.

  • Strong partnership with commercial teams and functions e.g. QSC, Finance, Legal

  • Experience as an internal and external influencer/ spokesperson for R&D with external bodies e.g. Government, Trade Associations and platforms (e.g. Wellness, Diversity & Inclusion, Women in Science).

  • Commercial financials, budget management and business and process analysis experience.

  • Consumer, Science, Customer and People focus and driven. Inspires others to bring together consumer obsession and trusted science to identify and deliver consumer preferred solutions.

  • Strong change leadership, ability to challenge status quo to drive speed to market, effectiveness, efficiency, excellent creative transformative thinking skills and proactive problem solving.

  • Strategic thinking including setting and implementing a clear vision and direction, big picture enterprise thinking while maintaining ability to execute successfully.

  • Creates new opportunities and competitive advantages and is committed to filling the innovation pipeline with competitively superior, innovative, and marketable products.

  • Identifies and enables untapped opportunities emerging through digital technology transformation to deliver consumer health solutions "beyond the pill" including new business model & distribution channel opportunities.

  • Proactively seeks and applies external thinking from competitors, agencies, contract research organizations, contract manufacturing organizations & in doing so creates a winning mindset to deliver tangible benefit and value in innovation, best practices, growth, and influence.

  • Strong internal and external networks across functions in technology, science, and relevant management external bodies, and uses them in service of the business.

  • Achieves business objectives while maintaining the ethical, regulatory, and scientific standards.

  • Strong communication skills and able to influence internally and externally.

  • Resilient and makes courageous and timely decisions while leading complexity and navigating ambiguity.

  • Takes accountability, is results orientated, entrepreneurial, and self-motivated with the capability to define, evaluate, and takes and manages risks.

We also offer the opportunity to receive a discretionary bonus based on the achievement of key business performance and other incentive/recognition programs as part of the offering.The salary range for this role is: $218,207 to $300,034 plus a 25% annual target bonus.
