Hale County Hospital is Hiring a TEMP: Physical Therapy Registration Clerk/ Receptionist Near Greensboro, AL

NOTICE: This is a temporary job postion. Estimated job length is 3 months, but this is subject to change to fit our needs.

SUMMARY

The job of Physical Therapy Registration Clerk/ Receptionist is done for the purpose of greeting, instructing directing and scheduling in an efficient and orderly manner for the registration of physical therapy/IV therapy patients and ensures that the accurate patient information is collected. The Clerk/Receptionist serves as a liaison between the patient and the medical support staff. The Clerk/Receptionist will need to be available on short notice. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Greet patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
2. Answer telephone courteously, screen and direct calls and take messages and provide information
3. Accurately registers patients
4. Balances cash drawer at the end of each business day
5. Prepares new patient’s charts with correct information and paperwork in the PT/IV Therapy setting.
6. Performing other basic clerical duties as assigned 
7. Discharges PT patients when they’ve completed their visits.
8. Scans all insurance cards and verifies eligibility explains PT and IV Therapy benefits to the patient.
9. Enters PT and IV Therapy schedule into Athena
10. Prepares PT new patient charts
11. Take referrals for PT/Notifies TMC to schedule the evaluation
12. Takes IV Therapy referrals and notifies the IV Therapy nurse for review

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Schedule’s physical therapy/IV therapy appointments.
2. Verifies eligibility and request prior authorizations from insurance companies for PT/IV Therapy patients
3. Notifying correct departments of patient's arrival.
4. Receipt’s payments
5. Scans all PT, Swing bed & IV therapy referrals, notes and billing grids
6. Verifies with a check sheet that all PT and Swingbed documents are in the patient’s chart for billing
7. Enters PT and Swingbed therapy charges
8. Verifies monthly therapy bill charges/insurances and request any corrections that need to be made. 
9. Complies with all HIPAA regulations.
10. Gives information to visitors concerning the location of patients or departments.
11. Complies with all company HIPAA policies and procedures.
12. Has all patients and or family complete and sign all correct forms. Helps the patients or family with the forms when needed.
13. Keeps an accurate log for all PT visits.
14. Collects co-pays at time of registration.
15. Scans patient's identification and gets signatures on all required forms.
16. Notifies the correct department of the patient's arrival in a timely manner.
17. Request pre-certification for Physical Therapy and IV Therapy services
18. Files and pulls physical therapy charts daily

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Excellent grammar and spelling skills, knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
3. Requires excellent interpersonal, telephone and organizational skills.
4. Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
2. Room temperature varies many noises.
3. Normally works in a well-lighted, well ventilated area.
4. Must be able to work under the stress and conditions that normally exist in hospital setting.
5. Classification Category II - Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues but that may require performance of Category I tasks unexpectedly or on short notice.
