Hagerty is currently supporting a humanitarian mission that provides emergency sheltering and other services to vulnerable populations in New York City. This is a high-tempo, client-facing operation that requires individuals who can engage in complex, sensitive, and fast-moving conversations and rapidly provide thoughtful analysis of problems, risks, and inefficiencies and solutions and recommendations to address them. The role requires individuals with a high level of professionalism, humility, interpersonal skills, and precision with communications.

We are looking for Junior to Mid-Level Planners to join our New York City project and are prioritizing candidates with a background in emergency management, public health, non-governmental organization (NGO) and humanitarian fields, and professional management consultants. This is a contract position that will be on site in New York City or remote. The ideal candidate should have a passion for emergency management, be a self-starter, and have the desire to solve complex problems for our clients.

Candidates for the Emergency Management Planner must possess the following qualifications:

  • The desire to help communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Ability to fluently speak Spanish & English.
  • At least one (1) year of professional experience in emergency management planning, management

consulting, humanitarian relief, or a related field.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • A keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and

SharePoint).

  • The ability to provide summary products, meeting recaps, or deliverables for clients.
  • The ability to work 12-hour shifts as needed based on the client’s operational tempo.
  • The ability to remain calm and poised under pressure, work successfully on multiple priorities simultaneously and remain focused when working under tight deadlines.

Candidates for the role of Emergency Management Planner may also have the following qualifications:

  • Experience researching complex issues and presenting outcomes and insights to a supervisor or large audience.
  • Experience developing highly professional deliverables including Situation Reports and IAPs.
  • Experience working as part of a Planning Section on a previous disaster.
  • Fluency is French or Arabic.

Salary: The salary range is $65,000 - $100,000k. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and training, licensure and certifications, location, travel requirements, and other business and organizational needs.
