Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP is Hiring a Paralegal - Boston Near Boston, MA

The Boston office of Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP is looking for a Paralegal to join our team. We’re a collection of smart, dedicated, and creative lawyers and staff working on some of the most high quality, cutting edge pharmaceutical litigation in the country. For example, we’re headed to trial against HIV drug manufacturers for illegally thwarting competition for major HIV treatments and we’ll soon be in trial against the makers of brand and generic Zetia, a cholesterol drug, on our claims that they unlawfully delayed generic competition. In the last two years. We received final approval for one and then another of the largest settlements in direct purchaser pharmaceutical antitrust cases ever, both resolved mere weeks before trial. We don’t always win but we don’t give up.

We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards, take pride in originating, aggressively working, and trying cases, and genuinely like each other. Some of us have never (by choice!) had another legal field job anywhere else.

About the Firm:

Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP is a national class-action and complex litigation law firm that takes on the world's largest corporations and entities, fighting for the rights of consumers, investors, whistleblowers, employees, institutions and others. In the firm's 27 years of practice, Hagens Berman has earned a reputation as one of the most feared plaintiffs firms in the nation, willing to go above and beyond in the fight for our clients’ rights. Our determination and expert skill are second to none in the plaintiffs' bar, and our opponents know our name well.

Founded in 1993, Hagens Berman is an international plaintiffs’ law firm, that has recovered more than $320 billion for our clients across our various practice areas. Our legal team has achieved record-breaking settlements and believes in helping those most in need. The firm's tenacious spirit has earned it prestigious awards, including repeatedly being named one of the top 10 plaintiffs’ firms in the US.

Litigation Paralegal Responsibilities:

Our office investigates and originates interesting and important cases, typically serves as lead or co-lead class counsel, and works collaboratively in the office and with co-counsel to push cases aggressively through discovery, briefing, and trial. We’re looking for someone to join our team to help us do all that and with the highest caliber work. We work hard and expect a lot from members of our team. We also find real meaning in the work we do and in doing it well.

Litigation Paralegals are responsible for helping us from the inception of a case to the final distribution of funds to class members. Throughout a case, you’ll prepare pleadings and other filings and correspondence, cite-check, use the Blue Book, perform filing services, calendar deadlines and help keep the team on track, conduct document searches, prepare materials for production, organize and coordinate document reviews, help with legal research, prepare materials for oral arguments, work as
part of trial teams in the lead-up to and at trial, assist in settlement and post-settlement allocation and distribution work, and in general be a core part of the case team. The expectation is that paralegal/legal support duties comprise the majority of time and responsibilities, but you may be asked to help with administrative functions from time to time to help the team.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently, be resourceful, organize and prioritize workload, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Results-oriented, self-starter, with a high level of initiative
  • Ability to shift focus, perform under tight deadlines, and maintain patience in high pressure situations
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, verbal and written communication skills including spelling, grammar and proofreading skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), and Adobe
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Must manage highly confidential information with professionalism and unquestionable integrity
  • Willingness and enthusiasm to learn new skills and contribute to our office and our projects in new ways
  • Bonus of paralegal certificate, prior litigation paralegal experience, and/or knowledge of federal court rules and procedures, federal ECF system, Westlaw/LexisNexis, Blue Booking, etc – but all of that can be learned
Please send resume and cover letter and include “Boston Litigation Paralegal” in the subject line to resumes@hbsslaw.com.

If you are interested in applying for an open position at Hagens Berman, please send your resume and a cover letter to Heather Enoki at resumes@hbsslaw.com. All employment inquiries will be kept confidential. Only selected candidates will be contacted. No phone calls please.
