Duties:
- Assist the orthodontist in providing patient care and treatment during orthodontic procedures
- Take and record patient medical histories, including any allergies or pre-existing conditions
- Perform patient assessments, including taking and developing x-rays and photographs
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments for procedures
- Assist with the placement and removal of orthodontic appliances
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and care for their orthodontic appliances
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including medical coding and documentation
- Utilize Epic software for patient scheduling, charting, and communication
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
-Minimum of 2 years dental/orthodontic experience REQUIRED
- Current certification as an Orthodontic Assistant preferred
- Experience working in a pediatric dental or orthodontic practice highly desired
- Proficiency in computer skills, including CAD software and medical record systems such as Epic
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients of all ages
- Knowledge of medical coding and documentation practices
