Hackensack Meridian Health is Hiring a Medical Technician III, Cellular Therapy - Full-Time Near Hackensack, NJ
- Performs all complex procedures and testing in the applicable areas in a timely and accurate manner.
- Correlates and understands the theory of complex testing procedures including associating the results to patient diagnosis and clinical condition.
- Performs the duties of the senior technologist and/or is responsible for running the section in the absence of the section head/supervisor.
- Performs complex maintenance on all sophisticated instrumentation
- Works with the section head/supervisor in preparing the section for accreditation inspections
- Interacts with inspectors during accreditation inspections to answer technical questions
- Performs comparison trials and final analysis of new techniques and equipment
- Prepares and updates documents and SOP's needed for inspections by accreditation agencies
- Works with the section head/supervisor to document competencies within the section.
- Works with the section head/supervisor to processes proficiency testing materials.
- Perform all quality control (QC) as applicable.
- Documents all QC procedures performed and document corrective action when QC is out of range.
- Performs advanced troubleshooting of complex instruments within the section.
- Instructs and trains new MT students during their clinical rotations.
- Maintains complete and accurate records, i.e., procedure and instrument worksheets and maintenance sheets.
- Calibrates and standardizes all sophisticated instrumentation according to sectional guidelines.
- Maintains an adequate level of supplies. Performs Inventory control and ordering as needed.
- Checks and standardizes reagents.
- Performs all system functions necessary to achieve the timely reporting of results.
- Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Works with some degree of latitude.
- Solid working knowledge of subject matter.
- Handles moderately complex issues and problems.
- Previous hospital experience a plus.
- Previous cellular therapy and/or blood bank experience a plus.
- ASCP or equivalent eligible.
- Certified as MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA), CLT (HEW) or equivalent.
- All HUMC personnel, industry contacts, health agencies (CHC, WHO, NJSDH), health care practitioners.
- Lifts a minimum of 40 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
