The Invasive Cardiovascular Technician will assist physicians with all invasive cardiac, peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including temporary and permanent pacemaker placement. In addition the Cardiovascular Technologist will assist with circulatory support devices as indicated ( ie IABP and Impella).

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Invasive Cardiovascular Technician at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

1. Prepares and organizes specific equipment and sterile tray for each procedure. 2. Assists procedure room team with the positioning and preparation of patient monitoring. 3. Calibrates and tests transducers for accurate pressure readings. 4. Assists physicians throughout diagnostic, and/or all interventional procedures.5. Loads and operates power injector and associated sterile support equipment.6. Maneuvers the table controls for physicians, as requested. Radiology Technologist (RT) only maneuvers fluoroscopy as requested.7. Calibrates hemodynamic monitoring equipment and obtains, calculates, and analyzes all hemodynamic data assembled during the procedure, including computerized ventriculography data and valve area8. Calculates and records cardiac output and oximetry readings9. Utilizes and maintains the required standards for the operation of digital cine technologies including protocols for storage and retrieval of patient's images and hemodynamic records.10. Assists with vascular access, sheath removal and hemostatic closure devices while maintaining hemostatis at the access site.11. Assists in management of inventory control, maintenance of PAR levels and preparation of required equipment for each procedure. 12. Adheres to practice requirements related to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS)13. Operates equipment safely: Prepares and cares for equipment, returns supplies as necessary. 14. Participates in the catheterization lab on call responsibilities as per the organizational policy and procedure. 15. Application of radial access banding while maintaining hemostasis at the access site. 16. Recognizes and interprets all cardiac arrhythmias17. Assists with maintenance, calibration and routine periodic evaluation of all diagnostic and technical equipment.18. Lifts a minimum of 40 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 100 lbs. and stands a minimum of 4 hours a day.19. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).20. Adheres to radiation safety standards per the organization's policy and procedure. 21. Promotes a professional environment through role modeling and demonstrated behaviors consistent with HMH core values of Collaboration, Courage, Compassion, and Creativity22. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.23. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technologist program or radiologic technologist program.2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.3. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platform.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. Associates or Bachelors Degree in health science field.2. Licensed special procedures Radiologic Technologist. 3. Prior experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory, invasive procedure area or special procedures radiology4. Hemodynamic monitoring and sterile operative techniques.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.2. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 3 months of employment. 2. Within 1 year of hire must have successfully passed RCIS exam given by CCI or Radiologic Technologist License
