Hackbarth Delivery Service is Hiring a Rick Management Safety Coordinator Near Springdale, AR

We are seeking a Risk Management Coordinator for our Western Region. The Risk Management Coordinator position will provide support, training, and development for all areas of the Hackbarth Delivery Service (HDS) Risk Management program. The areas of responsibilities for the HDS risk management program include safety, security, loss prevention, claims administration and DOT/fleet services.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor, interpret and act upon safety data collected from terminal safety assessments, safety dashboard, accident/injury log, safety compliance log, FMCSA portal, and other appropriate sources.
  • Perform terminal safety assessments including communication to terminal leadership, follow up and finalized reporting.
  • Know and understand the Safety101 program.
  • Be able to train terminal employees on the use of Safety101.
  • Obtain and maintain Smith System Driver Trainer status and certify both employee and IC drivers as needed, including refresher courses.
  • Monitor each terminal’s Smith System compliance.
  • Work with HR, TSS (vendor) and the corporate risk manager to ensure companywide DOT/FMCSA clearinghouse, medical eval card exams and hours-of-service are in compliance.
  • Monitor the “Driver Key Dates” email, notify terminals of driver expirations and coordinate with HR to update the information in Xcelerator.
  • Determine driver training needs and recommend solutions.
  • Conduct field training exercises, e.g., DVIR pre-trip/post-trip inspections, Samsara installations, forklift safety, OSHA requirements, straight truck backing, height clearance, etc.
  • Review driver DVIR checklist in Samsara for vehicle deficiencies and compliance.
  • Become proficient in DOT/FMCSA compliance and use that knowledge to monitor and train terminal personnel in compliance.
  • Execute, and understand the role of Samsara Program Coordinator.
  • Know all features of the program, especially coaching effectiveness, and coaching structure.
  • Understand Samsa reports and how to use them.
  • Evaluate coaching effectiveness and use this information to train coaches and drivers in the field.
  • Understand and monitor the maintenance systems for the leasing companies, Enterprise, Penske, Ryder, etc.
  • Know the features of each leaser’s program and how they relate to DOT compliance.
  • Monitor maintenance due dates and notify terminals when due dates are approaching or expired.
  • Understand relevant reports and how to use them.
  • Coordinate with terminals on DOT/FMCSA logging issues, hours of service violations and other compliance issues.
  • Track and review the FMCSA Portal for CSA score, roadside inspections and citations.
  • Conduct driver Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP’s) through the FMCSA database.
  • Track and review terminals IFTA tax assessments to ensure no overages are paid; coordinate the process with accounting.
  • Assist the corporate risk manager with development and promotion of companywide transportation safety program. Recommend areas of focus and development should be based on accident analysis, state and federal regulation requirements, transportation safety assessments, driver observations and other safety/compliance observations.
  • Evaluate driver behavior based on Samsara driver scores, inspections, assessments, audits, violations. Recommend, perform and track remedial training.
  • Help coordinate the distribution of safety literature and equipment to terminals.
  • Assist the learning and development (L&D) manager with the DOT and driver training.
  • Attend the bi-weekly safety call, claims call, manager’s call and any other unscheduled conference calls.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall company operations. This may include, but not be limited to, assisting terminals during morning sorts, delivering products to customers and other operational tasks that may arise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (Safety, Transportation, Logistics, Business, etc.) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Safety, Fleet Services, or Logistics and Transportation Management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations, FMCSA/DOT regulations and local, state and federal laws and regulations, applicable to company services.
  • Understanding of the insurance claims process and ability to coordinate with internal and external insurance agents and brokers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various accident investigative techniques and root cause analysis methods.
  • Knowledge of transportation/courier operations.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with enterprise software system
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with Samara, Xelerator, and Safety 101
  • Highly organized, detail oriented
  • Access to reliable transportation. If driving an automobile while on company business, must possess a valid driver’s license in state of residence and auto insurance. Must be able to pass a background check, MVR, and drug screen

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Frequently (50% of time) required to walk and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel object, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently (more than 50% of time) lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently (50% of time) Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.
  • Frequently (50% of time) exposed to moving mechanical equipment and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually that of a warehouse.
  • Frequently (50% of time) travel throughout the region and to Hackbarth’s’ sites outside of the region occasionally.
  • Occasional (less than 25% of time) weekend and/or overtime work, primarily at start-up or when taking on new business
