Hachette Book Group is Hiring a Metadata & Merchandising Associate Near New York, NY

The primary responsibility of the Metadata & Merchandising Associateis to optimize our product metadata for discovery and sales conversion, with particular emphasis on SEO, descriptive copy, keywords, product categorization, and the creation of marketing assets to enhance the online shopping experience. The ideal candidate will have experience of metadata management and best practices and a deep understanding of the Amazon ecosystem.
This position is part of the corporate marketing strategy team, responsible for building and maintaining direct to consumer marketing capabilities, and reports to the Backlist Director.
The Metadata & Merchandising Associate'sprimary responsibilities include:
  • Identifies and evaluates opportunities for optimizing product listings using SEO and metadata best practices to maximize title discoverability
  • Copyedits descriptive copy, including book descriptions, series descriptions, and author bios
  • Ensures all areas of an online product page are complete and works with publishing to fill any gaps
  • Designs merchandising assets and creatives for backlist titles
  • Tracks progress and effectiveness of product page optimization
  • Attends publisher title meetings and advises on title metadata
  • Maintains metadata best practices documentation
  • Presents metadata resources, tools and case studies 2-3 times a year to Marketing and Editorial teams
  • Stays abreast of trends in new technology and AI that may have an impact on how metadata is created and managed
Requirements:
  • 2 years of metadata optimization, editorial, or copywriting experience
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices
  • Highly detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to deliver timely, accurate work
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with a focus on Excel
  • Experience using Canva or a similar graphic design tool is ideal
  • Flexibility to take on additional tasks related to marketing and metadata as needed
  • Loves books and wants to help readers discover new titles and authors they'll love!

The compensation range for this position is $53,200 -$55,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location - talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
