Job Title:

Project Manager (Part Time) – Construction

Reports to: Chief Operations Officer

Overview:

The Project Manager plays a vital role in leading and managing construction projects from initiation to completion. This dynamic position requires strong project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and coordination skills to ensure successful project delivery while maintaining compliance with quality standards. The Project Manager will collaborate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to achieve project objectives in a timely and efficient manner. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities are crucial for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Execution:
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, goals, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to identify project risks, challenges, and mitigation strategies.
  • Effectively communicate project objectives, requirements, and expectations to team members and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate project activities, ensuring optimal utilization of resources, materials, and equipment.
  • Procure necessary resources at the most cost-effective terms, maintaining strict adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Contract Administration and Vendor Management:
  • Collaborate with contractors, architects, engineers, and sub-contractors to facilitate seamless project execution.
  • Monitor contractor performance, ensuring compliance with contract terms, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Resolve any conflicts or disputes that may arise during the project, fostering productive working relationships.
  • Project Accounting and Control:
  • Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and optimizing cost efficiency.
  • Implement effective cost control measures to minimize exposure and risk.
  • Regularly review project financials, providing accurate and timely reports to management.
  • Oversee project procurement activities, ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Quality Management and Safety Compliance:
  • Uphold stringent quality standards throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring deliverables meet or exceed expectations.
  • Conduct regular inspections to monitor construction progress and quality of workmanship.
  • Promote a culture of safety on construction sites, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and best practices.
  • Implement appropriate safety measures and protocols to mitigate risks and hazards.
  • Stakeholder Communication and Relationship Management:
  • Maintain effective and open communication channels with project stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress, challenges, and milestones.
  • Conduct regular status meetings, fostering collaboration and ensuring alignment among team members.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service, building goodwill and enhancing the reputation of Habitat Oakland County

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, business management, engineering, or architecture preferred.
  • Residential Builders’ License and/or a postgraduate degree in construction management are advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction project management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
