Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville is Hiring a Deconstruction | Handy Person | Remodel Associate Near Nashville, TN

JOB SUMMARY:

Deconstruct or remodel donated building components such as doors, windows, cabinets, lighting, and plumbing. Coordinate the removal of items from the site to the ReStore. Work with and supervises others (staff and volunteers), to safely remove saleable materials from the deconstruction site. Prepare and tag all items for shipment to ReStore after preparing inventory list. This job is an in-person position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

Assist in the day-to-day activities of the DeConstruction Department. Reach out to local contractors and homeowners to ensure DeConstruction is viable and profitable for agency. Ensure that deconstruction site is following all HFHI and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville Policies and Guidelines. Participate and support agency activities as requested.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Assist in making initial contact with deconstruction donor to set up appointment to review project.
  • Represent Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville as the onsite agent for donated deconstruction projects.
  • Ensure that staff and volunteers adhere to all safety policies in the removal of items donated.
  • Ensure that all items removed from the site in a saleable manner.
  • Responsible for the transportation of removed items from the deconstruction site to the ReStore.
  • Prepare detailed listing of items removed from deconstruction site.
  • Responsible for photo documentation of items removed from deconstruction site.
  • Determine if project is profitable
  • Enter all DeConstruction information into Sales Force and assign each DeConstruction a job number.
  • Maintain a safe perimeter around the deconstruction site.
  • Maintain and track all cost of the deconstruction projects.
  • Always provide excellent customer service.
  • Follow all Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville policies and procedures as outlined in the Procedures manual and Employee Handbook.
  • Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
  • Maintain deconstruction tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Apply for and obtain all permits where necessary.
  • Participate in the Annual Review Process.
  • Complete other assignments as instructed by the CFO and/or CEO.
  • Assist in pickup of donations as needed
  • Assist customers in ReStores
  • Work with Volunteer groups
  • Attend various trade shows to spread word of DeConstruction and donations
  • Participate as staff support at the build site as needed
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous construction experience with power tools required. Handyperson experience
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, wood framing, roofing, siding, concrete, and masonry helpful
  • The ability to fulfil Heavy work. Individually exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • This position requires a current driver’s license and acceptable driving history.
  • Must be able to drive up to a 26’ box truck.

TIME REQUIREMENTS:

Full Time, this position is Tuesday thru Saturday, may require 40 hours per week. Satisfactory attendance is required.
