What you'll do...
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Marketing Manager of Search will lead a team of 3 to deliver on the overarching search acquisition goals for key H&R Block brands and products. The scope of the role is inclusive of both H&R Block's paid and natural/organic search channels and will require partnership across the organization, and with agency partners, to deliver on the strategy. This individual will be responsible for a sizeable search channel budget and will be held accountable for optimizing the budget to ensure the strongest returns, in addition to finding opportunities to drive synergy across paid and natural/organic search.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a team to develop, recommend and implement client SEM and SEO acquisition marketing plans and programs for key H&R Block brands and products designed to increase revenues, client base, and profitability. Ensure adherence of marketing plans and programs with overall corporate strategy and objectives.
  • Implement and monitor marketing metrics to ensure the effective measurement of client acquisition marketing programs. Analyze each program to identify key success indicators and opportunities for improvement. Prioritize projects based on evaluation of short and long-term benefit to the company.
  • Develop a comprehensive SEM and SEO strategy finding synergies across paid and natural/organic search.
  • Develop innovative search campaign strategies including target cohorts, campaign calendar, and messaging strategy in partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Direct and monitor outside advertising agencies to ensure the company's client acquisition goals are achieved in the most efficient and effective manner.
  • In partnership with leadership, create annual and monthly search marketing budget and performance objectives for H&R Block to achieve channel cost goals in conjunction with Strategy & Finance. Continually evaluate and optimize spend to drive higher acquisitions at lower costs.
  • Employ a test & learn mindset creating tests and learning agendas to create continuous optimization within the search channel.
  • Manage and foster key relationships across the marketing organization to deliver on search goals.
  • Lead and develop a team of 3 search marketers with a focus on recruiting and retaining top talent, ensuring necessary training and encouraging career development.
Minimum Education & Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business, or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10 years of work experience in acquisition marketing with experience leading a team. 5 years of recent experience leading search marketing, both SEM and SEO, preferred.
Qualifications
  • Strong digital marketing experience, ideally inclusive of search marketing, with a solid understanding of the fully customer lifecycle
  • Strong track record of managing and optimizing large marketing budgets
  • A balance of strong strategic and analytical skills having the ability to tell a impactful story leveraging data
  • Ability to manage a large agency relationship holding them jointly accountable for search channel goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, plus ability to clearly articulate and express complex and sometimes technical ideas to a wide variety of people and groups at any level
  • Ability to generate and quickly execute upon actionable recommendations based on the synthesis and analysis of data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial implications of marketing decisions.
  • Strategic planning, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • 10 years of work experience in acquisition marketing with experience leading a team. 5 years of recent experience leading search marketing, both SEM and SEO, preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team
