Summary

Applied Research Scientist I

The Cancer Care Delivery Lab ( https://lab.moffitt.org/cancercaredelivery/ ) seeks to improve cancer care quality, access, outcomes, and equity. Our research focuses on 1) identifying and intervening upon gaps in cancer care delivery and 2) developing and testing new models of cancer care delivery. Our research frequently employs mixed methods, implementation science, and pragmatic trials.

Position Highlights:

• The Applied Research Scientist I is a non-tenure track researcher who serves as part of a clinical/translational research team under the general direction of an Investigator in the Population Science Research Division.
• The Applied Research Scientist I’s principal activity is research and related support activities for the faculty investigator he or she works with, including presentation at scientific meetings and production of scientific manuscripts.

The Ideal Candidate:

• A Ph.D. in health services research, implementation science, health policy, epidemiology, public health, or a closely aligned field
• Has research experience in the academic and/or clinical setting, preferably in implementation science and/or health services research
• Demonstrates statistical programming experience, preferably in Stata
• Is a critical, independent, and creative thinker
• Is professional, personable, organized, conscientious, and works well as a member of a team.
• Has excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Has manuscript writing and grant writing experience

Responsibilities:

• This position is also expected to supervise and train staff within the research lab.
• Participates in the planning, implementation, and conduct of research projects in collaboration with the overseeing Investigator. This includes contribution to preparation of grants, clinical protocols, progress reports, scientific manuscripts, data analysis, and daily management activities.
• Interacts closely with Investigator and other researchers within the Investigator Laboratory to conduct relevant literature searches and reviews.
• Responsible for the collection, organization, analysis and documentation of data as directed by the overseeing Investigator. Limited degree of supervision is required for the analysis of data and documentation of results.
• Attending and participating in appropriate conferences, workshops, lectures and seminars to maintain research skills

Credentials and Qualifications:

• Minimum of an M.D. or Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to Population Science (e.g., health services research, implementation science, health behavior, health policy, epidemiology, biostatistics, psychology, internal medicine) or related field is required.
• Postdoctoral experience preferred but not required.
