Description
Position: Construction Intern / Assistant
FLSA: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Location: Piedmont metro area (indoor and outdoor)
Hours: Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm
General Purpose: To assist superintendent with construction, maintenance, and lawn maintenance activities.
Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Superintendent.
Compensation:

• Base of $14.00 to $15.00 (DOE), plus for full-time staff the following;
• Benefits available (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, FSA, etc.)
• 401(k) available (up to 4% match)
• Quarterly bonuses
• Profit Sharing bonuses (quarterly)
• Construction Performance Bonuses for full-time Assistants

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Maintain landscaping, yards, shrubs, trees, and watering sod.
•Help maintain clean streets and gutters
•Perform minor touch ups and some activities on punch-list
•Responsible for the level of quality in product
•Comprehend the process of residential construction and use common knowledge
•Walk every room of every house, every day
•Ability to deliver houses in the allowed time as set forth by contracts
•Keep signs upright and orderly
•Communicate with sub-contractors
•Write daily reports
•Present recommendations to Builder and Superintendent
•Attend all staff meetings
•Any other duties assigned
Requirements
Construction Assistant Job Requirements:

• High school diploma and six months of general labor experience or related relevant work experience.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
•Knowledge of erosion control guidelines
•Strong organizational and communication skills
•Willingness to be a member of a dedicated team
•Strong customer service skills
•Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in working with computers and other types of technology
Work Environment: Exposure to outdoor work sites; dirt, dust, fumes, heat, cold, noise, odors, wetness, humidity, and darkness. Some bending stooping, climbing, reaching, crawling, lifting, carrying, and walking. Subject to driving to various locations in varying weather conditions.
Physical Demands: Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, and to stoop or kneel. Must be able to carry equipment up to 50 lbs. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Tool and Equipment: Computer, tape measure and levels, and basic painting and hand/power tools.
