SUMMARY
The Junior Systems Administrator job will focus on learning network and systems administration. This position will serve as backup to the system and network administrators. The Junior system administrator must be willing to learn and research to gain knowledge and understanding of the system deployed at the university. The Junior Administrator Systems works with ITS staff to maintain the availability and performance of each system
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Help maintain the availability and reliability of multi-user systems supported by Institutional Technology Services.
Work with senior administrators and other department personnel to ensure the operating system, database, and application environment are installed correctly and maintained for reliable operations. Develop maintenance schedules, and perform preventive maintenance.
Assist the senior administrators and other department personnel in maintaining security models for all systems in the network environment and at the operating system and database level. This includes administrative user accounts, permissions, and security.
Develop a general understanding of the applications installed, working with ITS or departmental staff with specific application responsibilities.
Understanding of Microsoft products such as Share Point, Office 365, SCCM, Intune and AD.
Understanding of PowerShell and learning to test and write scripts.
Work with relevant external vendors when needed.
Stay actively involved in projects assigned to the department.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1-3 years relevant experience. Technical certifications a plus.
Experience in Microsoft Active Directory, O365, SharePoint, Intune, and imagining is desired not required Experience in higher education, data conversions, and disaster recovery is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical publications, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from users. Ability to effectively present information to users, management, and colleagues.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and those skills necessary to plan and implement budgets and financial analysis. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.). Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
TECHNICAL SKILLS

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork, troubleshooting, and project management skills are required. Ability to work independently and proactively.
