Job Summary: GWS is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Accounting Intern to tackle several critical projects to ensure compliance with sales tax regulations and to optimize tax processes within the organization. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, the Accounting Intern will be responsible for: the overall collection and archiving of necessary tax documents from both customers and vendors; developing a plan for compliance tracking; and providing input and advice on customer and vendor master file management. The ideal candidate will have basic accounting and tax knowledge, as well as exceptional communication and organizational skills. This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience and exposure to real-world business operations in a dynamic environment. It offers an excellent opportunity for students seeking practical experience in accounting and taxation, with exposure to sales tax compliance and process improvement initiatives.
Duties/Responsibilities:

• Contact customers by e-mail and phone to collect sales tax exemption certificates.
• Contact vendors by email and phone to collect W9 tax forms.
• Review the tax forms for accuracy and completeness.
• Follow up promptly with customers and vendors.
• Develop a process to track the tax form collection project and provide regular updates on your progress.
• Upload the tax documents into the ERP system and create a file storage system for the documents on Google Drive.
• Contact customers by e-mail and phone to request DUNS numbers and enter in the ERP system.
• Provide input on the customer/vendor master file management forms and process and suggest areas for improvement.
• Other ad hoc requests and process improvement initiatives as requested by the Regional Finance Business Partner.

Education and Experience:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in accounting, finance, or related field. Junior or Senior preferred.
• Strong academic record with coursework in accounting or taxation preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Basic understanding of accounting principles and tax concepts.
• Proficiency in Google Drive, Microsoft Excel and other computer applications.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Eagerness to learn and willingness to take on new challenges.
