Class Summary

Job Description

The Building Services Coordinator is a supervisory level position of the building services series. This position is responsible for supervising employees and for ensuring that a clean and safe workplace is maintained.

Incumbents are also responsible for inspecting, planning and implementing custodial, maintenance, office design and layout, or other building services activities.

This position will select and complete the purchase of materials, supplies and equipment needs for maintenance tasks.

Essential Duties

  • Supervising staff to include prioritizing and assigning work, training and evaluating, making hiring and disciplinary recommendations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
  • Supervising inmates to include prioritizing and assigning work, training, and ensuring proper compliance with policies and procedures, making recommendations for transfers
  • Maintaining a healthy and safe work environment
  • Conducting walk through inspections of buildings for safety problems, cleanliness and comfort and inspecting systems and mechanical rooms
  • Completing necessary repairs
  • Selecting and purchasing materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Interacting with vendors and subcontractors to include communicating the work to be completed, the standards and expectations and coordinating the delivery
  • Overseeing and prepares the facility for meetings and events with the proper equipment, seating and tables
  • Ensuring that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and inventoried by issuing receipts to personnel and inmates upon check out
  • Assisting with budgetary recommendations and budgetary spending issues

Other Job Requirements / Information

  • This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
  • This job requires a public safety background check to include motor vehicle histories, criminal histories, credit check, and fingerprinting.
  • This job may require 24 hour on-call rotation, overtime, or working weekends, holidays, 10 hour, 12 hour and rotating shifts.

Grade

The grade for this position is B23(1).

Effective 4 / 11 / 2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years of directly related experience

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.

Valid driver's license

  • CPR certificate (obtained within 6 months of employment)
  • First Aid certificate (obtained within 6 months of employment)

Preferred Qualification

State Inmate Supervisor certificate
