Gwinnett County is Hiring an Affordable Housing Coordinator Near Gwinnett County, GA

Job DescriptionThe Affordable Housing Coordinator for the Housing and Community Development Division will be responsible for addressing housing challenges in our community through the facilitation, implementation, and management of affordable housing projects. This position will work closely with various stakeholders, including local government agencies, developers, contractors, community organizations, and residents, to ensure the successful execution of affordable housing initiatives.
The key roles and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, strategic planning and development, community engagement, financial management, regulatory compliance, project management, reporting, quality control, and developer outreach. The Housing and Community Development Division will be seeking to hire two Affordable Housing Coordinators and both positions will report directly to the Division Director.
Essential Duties
  • Conduct feasibility reviews to assess the viability of affordable housing projects.
  • Coordinate the preparation of project plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Work with local communities to understand their housing needs and concerns.
  • Organize and facilitate community meetings to gather input on proposed projects.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, community leaders, and advocacy groups.
  • Identify and apply for grants, subsidies, and other funding opportunities to support affordable housing projects.
  • Manage funding to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Prepare compliance reporting guidance and forms for external and internal use.
  • Stay current with local, state, and federal regulations related to affordable housing.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for project-related inquiries from stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress and develop internal tracking metrics.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure that affordable housing projects meet specified standards.
  • Initiate and foster relationships with developers, contractors, engineers, and architects for outreach purposes.
Grade
The grade for this position is 103. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
 
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or Business Administration AND
  •  Three years housing development, project management, affordable housing, or community development experience 
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.

The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County’s values.
 
In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
