Description

The Georgia World Congress Center Authority is currently seeking a Grounds Maintenance Technician to join our team. Grounds Technicians shall be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance program of the exterior grounds, parking lots, and parking decks of the Georgia World Congress Center and perform day to day grounds maintenance activities, to include but not be limited to: removal of bulk trash, removal of snow and ice, distribution of equipment, preventive maintenance on gutter troughs, such other duties and functions as required by the Grounds Manager or Director of Facility Management. Successful employees at the Georgia World Congress Center Authority embody our four core values through collaboration, authenticity and accountability while sharing our vision to be the #1 convention, sports, and entertainment destination in the world.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Maintain exterior grounds and certain interior areas as required, using basic cleaning methods.
• Inspect and clean exterior grounds, parking lots, and parking decks daily.
• Monitor and inspect the work of exterior plant and landscaping maintenance contractors. Notify Grounds Manager about any discrepancies.
• Police facility entrances as required.
• Monitor facility entrances and floor areas during adverse weather conditions.
• Implement basic safety procedures during daily routine.
• Groom grass weekly during active growing season.
• Keep exterior free of unsightly weeds.
• Notify Grounds Manager of equipment and facilities requiring repair and replacement.
• Complete daily tasks assigned in a cooperative manner.
• Supervise the activities of part-time personnel as required.
• Performing general manual labor associated with campus operations functions.
• Such other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Grounds Manager.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• Minimum of one (1) year experience as groundskeeper or comparable position for a public facility or comparable private complex (plus) 
• Knowledge of basic grounds keeping techniques
