GWCC is Hiring a POLICE OFFICER - PART-TIME Near Atlanta, GA

GWCCA is currently seeking a part-time Police Officer to join our Atlanta campus team. The part-time Police Officer provides patrol coverage to the Georgia World Congress Center Authority campus and parking areas while increasing police visibility and public contact. Enforces state and local laws, and park ordinances in and around complex and patrol assigned areas. This position reports to the Police Sergeant and is different from the Off-Duty Police Officer.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answer calls and complaints.
  • Complete written incident reports.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Conduct investigations of criminal activities and taking appropriate action.
  • Provide general police services to the public.
  • Patrol, observe, and prevent criminal activity. Patrolling may include foot, bike, and/vehicle patrolling.
  • Participate in special event activities on campus.
  • Exercise crowd control and procedures.
  • Traffic direction and pedestrian management.
  • Completion of shift requirements as assigned by the Police Sergeant.
  • Perform other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Police Sergeant.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of applicable local and state laws, and ordinances.
  • High degree of integrity and work ethic.
  • Knowledge of oral and written skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload using own initiative.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with limited resources.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Assess, analyze, and manage risk factors in the face of uncertainty.
  • Ability to work an irregular work schedule as required to perform duties and responsibilities.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • P.O.S.T. Certification in good standing.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Law Enforcement work can be very dangerous and stressful. In addition to the obvious dangers of confrontations with criminals, police officers need to be constantly alert and ready to deal appropriately with a number threatening situations. Officers frequently work weekends, holidays, and nights. Officers are expected to work at any time their services are needed and may work long hours standing post. Officers are expected to report for duty in full uniform with the appropriate and necessary equipment needed in the performance of their duty. All positions are required to work in inclement weather conditions if necessary.
