What We Are Looking For

GVEC is looking to hire a full-time GIS Technician that will be responsible for submitting changes and improvements to our GIS model, maintaining the model integrity for our GVEC systems as well as helping improve processes and procedures with workflows and software.

How You’ll Help

  • Verify accuracy, completeness and reliability of GIS data through validation, maintenance and quality control processes
  • Convert and integrate data between different formats and projections to ensure compatibility within GVEC systems
  • Collaborate with other team members, departments, or external organizations to integrate GIS data into broader projects
  • Provide technical support to users utilizing GIS software, tools and databases
  • Create and maintain documentation for GIS projects, processes and workflows
  • Stay updated with advancements in GIS technology, software and best practices through continuous learning and professional development
  • Utilize GPS devices and tools to collect accurate geographic data in the field and integrate it into the GIS database

Experience/Skills You’ll Need

  • Attention to detail and task-oriented
  • Basic knowledge on electric connectivity, construction and terminology
  • Ability to read staking sheets
  • Motivation to improve processes and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and confidentially in a positive and professional manner
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to effectively troubleshoot minor issues independently
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic
  • Able to work independently with an impeccable sense of integrity
  • Team player with the resolve to provide and take constructive criticism that helps evolve the team
  • Ability to work overtime if necessary
  • Able to work primarily in an office environment
  • Basic Windows operating knowledge

Preferred Experience/Skills

  • ArcMap knowledge preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Milsoft and Partner software
  • Work order or service order processing knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Electric utility knowledge is a plus
  • Fiber modeling and construction knowledge a plus

Your Pay

The pay range for this role is between $20.00-$27.00/hr. and will be commensurate based on your skills, qualifications and experience. In addition, GVEC ties cash bonuses to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually.
