Guzman Law Group, P.C. is Hiring a Paralegal — Estate Planning / Trust Administration / Probate Near Manhattan, CA

SUMMARY

The person in this role provides remote paralegal support to the Department of Estate Planning (EP), Trust Administration (TA) & Probate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Prepare trusts, wills, powers of attorney, advance health care directives, deeds, and related documentation.

Draft EP ancillaries and assessor forms.

Manage probate cases, as well as other cases in probate court, including ensuring proper notice, publications, and court filings are completed. Draft petitions and other court documents for probate and trust administration court cases.

File and serve documents in connection with probate and trust administration.

Manage any e-filing issues/rejections, and upload e-filed and conformed copies in the firm’s document management system.

Follow up and ask questions to the probate court and e-filing service.

Prepare judicial council forms and other IRS forms (SS-4/2848).

Coordinate activities related to hearings, including calendaring, obtaining probate notes for two weeks before hearings, obtaining minute orders after hearings, etc.

Coordinate and scheduling meetings (in person, teleconference, video conference) with clients and EP/TA/Probate attorneys.

Prepare and mail trustee notifications, forbearance letters, waivers, notice of hearings, and other requested mailings.

Complete proofs of service or coordinate with attorney services.

Prepare Notices of Ruling and Continued Hearing.

Send deeds, affidavits, etc. to be recorded.

Mentor and cross-train more junior colleagues.

Professionally prepare and send correspondence and documents to clients for signature.

Follow up with clients and potential clients on outstanding items.

Ensure conflict check procedure has been followed.

Update the EP and TA workflow spreadsheets.

Participate in EP and TA meetings.

Send documents via the firm’s document management system for secure delivery.

Make telephone calls to obtain and provide information, particularly when sensitive.

Print and scan documents as needed, and ensure items received in mail are promptly scanned to EP attorneys.

Upload files to the firm’s document management system and organize in a clear, consistent manner.

Assist EP/TA attorneys with recording expenses and billing in the firm’s timekeeping system.

Maintain EP/TA/Probate files in the firm’s document management system.

Other duties as assigned.

Ability to identify when help is needed and willingness to ask for it.

Adept at following directions, asking questions when necessary.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Paralegal Certificate from a program approved by the American Bar Association (ABA) or a certificate from a regionally accredited institution that had at least 24 credit hours focused on legal courses; or a bachelor’s degree with five years of experience working under the supervision of an attorney licensed by the State Bar of California.

Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook, NetDocuments, Clio, DocuSign, and other office software.

Salary depending on experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
