DescriptionPosition Details: Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full-time one-year position of Visiting Instructor (or Assistant Professor with appropriate qualifications) in the Department of Music to begin September 1, 2022.

Department Information: Rooted in a rich Lutheran musical tradition with a commitment to innovation, the Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Music prepares students to lead lives grounded in the musical arts. Our department demonstrates nationally recognized excellence in teaching, research, and performance with a continual expectation for growth and improvement. Major/Essential Functions: The teaching assignment will be seven courses, one of which may be a one-month January Term intensive course determined by the candidate and appropriate to the candidate's expertise. Primary teaching responsibilities will include the Choir of Christ Chapel (75-voice mixed ensemble), the Lucia Singers (50-voice treble ensemble), a social justice choir, and a secondary choral methods course. Additional courses may be assigned based on the needs of the department and expertise of the successful candidate.

Prerequisites- M.M. in Choral Conducting (D.M.A. preferred)
- Prior experience in choral conducting
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and identities
