Gulf Shore Construction Services, Inc. is Hiring a Driller Near Orleans, LA

Gulf Shore Construction Services Inc is a subcontractor supporting the Mid Barataria Diversion Project in Louisiana. We offer full-time permanent work and excellent benefits: health, dental, vision, and PTO. The Driller is responsible for setting up and operating drilling rigs and related equipment to drill holes for geotechnical and environmental exploration test boring. A Class A driver's license is required.

  • Assures that all drilling functions, including quality assurance and verification are performed in accordance with the standard drilling methods, project specifications and other contract documents.
  • Performs geotechnical and environmental drilling activities including soil drilling, rock coring, sampling, classification, in-situ testing and monitoring well installation.
  • Operates equipment such as pumps for air, water and mud, and equipment/tools used to correct problems in drilled holes caused by mechanical breakdowns or by harmful natural conditions.
  • Retrieves/recovers soil and rock samples from drilling operations to be analyzed.
  • Provides leadership to Driller Assistant(s).
  • Responsible for maintaining necessary logs/records and filing reports.
  • Responsible for safety procedures on site.
  • Communicates job site conditions with the Drilling Manager and engineering staff.
  • At the end of the shift, shuts down and cleans equipment and job site.
  • Loads trucks.
  • Maintains drill rigs.
  • Drives commercial vehicles.
  • Performs shop/yard duties under the direction of the Drilling Manager.
  • Travels regionally and nationally to various job sites.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical drilling and subsurface investigation.
  • Experience in the auger, mud rotary and rock coring, soil sampling and wet rotary drilling.
  • General knowledge of soil and rock classifications (boring logs).
  • Must be familiar with highway construction specification and have previous field experience.
  • CDL Class A license is required.
  • 40-hour OSHA training preferred.
  • Experience with contract administration, bids, and proposals to final billing.
  • Good computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe and QuickBooks.
