Gulf Coast Produce Distributors, Inc. is Hiring a Sales Representative Louisiana West Near Biloxi, MS

General Summary:

Achieves maximum sales profitability, growth and account penetration within an assigned territory and/or market segment by effectively selling the company’s products and/or related services to include but not limited to fresh and frozen produce fruits and vegetables, proteins, spices, dairy, juices and both dry and paper goods.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Owns the overall profitability and sales growth of the Baton Rouge West region, which includes Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Alexandria and Lake Charles
  • Works with the Head of Sales to create and exceed annual sales targets.
  • Communicates and builds strong relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned territory/market segment to generate new business for the organization’s products/services.
  • Makes telephone calls and in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers.
  • Arranges business meetings with prospective customers and holds business reviews with top customers while negotiating deals and contracts for independent and multi-unit opportunities.
  • Monitors and understands the competition’s presence in the market and develops competitive strategies to gain market share while evaluating both risk and opportunities for territory expansions or consolidations.
  • Expedites the resolution of customer’s problems and complaints.
  • Coordinates sales efforts with marketing, sales management, purchasing, accounting, logistics and technical service groups.
  • Plans and organizes personal sales strategy by maximizing the Return on Time Investment for the territory/segment. Keeps Head of Sales informed on performance by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
  • Supplies management with oral and written reports on customer’s needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
  • Keeps abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with Head of Sales.
  • Participates in trade shows and conventions.
  • Utilizes his/her laptop, understands all functions of the company’s operating systems to include updating customer specifications, data entry, credit reporting and customer trends.
  • Immediately communicate with customers during the events of daily out of stocks, short ships or recoveries while proactively responding with a plan of action to recover as needed.
  • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated history and background in providing exceptional customer service to new and existing customers.
  • Three years minimal experience in food service or equivalent sales industries.
  • Ability to work independently while applying critical thinking methods.
  • Reliable transportation with valid driver’s license and no DUI convictions within the past three years
  • Ability to work flexible schedule while being on-call for customer needs to include evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
