YOUTH ACT LICENSED ALCOHOL AND DRUG COUNSELOR

This role is responsible for offering high-quality rehabilitative and recovery-focused services and expertise to the team in the field of substance abuse and chemical dependency treatment. The main aim is to support young people eligible for the program to transition successfully into adulthood, achieve success in their recovery, and reach their life goals. 

The Youth ACT Services aim to assist individuals between the ages of 16 and 20 who are struggling with mental illness. These services are designed to help them succeed in various areas of their lives, including education, employment, and community living. Designed to promote optimal health and success, our Youth ACT Services are a comprehensive and community-based approach to serving those with diagnosed mental illness(es) and co-occurring substance use disorders or other medical conditions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise to the team in prevention, psycho education, screening, assessing, planning treating and monitoring progress in the substance abuse youth.
  • Train the team on substance abuse and treatment using IDDT methods.
  • Assess clients' needs, identify goals, and document services for ease of access and record-keeping compliance.
  • Provide flexible individualized supports so clients can lead self-directed lives.
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention to ensure clients' safety at home and in the community.
  • Access and ensure clients receive necessary and desired community and housing resources.
  • Facilitate communication among team members to coordinate services and achieve client goals.

Qualifications

  • Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university, AND has 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness. 
  • Holds a drug and alcohol counseling license. 

Additional Requirements

  • Must be ambulatory and able to negotiate stairways.
  • A valid Class ‘D’ Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, satisfactory driving record and necessary insurance.
  • Must not be actively receiving services from Guild Incorporated and cannot have received services within the last two years.
