ACCOUNTING MANAGER

FLSA Status: Full-time, Salary, Exempt

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the complex accounting, grant management, and financial reporting functions of Guild, a non-profit organization that has a budget of $22 million. The Accounting Manager will ensure compliance with contracts, regulations, and GAAP. Additionally, they will lead the accounting staff in order to ensure that these important functions of the organization are carried out effectively and efficiently. The Accounting Manager will also play a crucial role in partnering with program staff and managers to provide valuable financial insights.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accounting system to ensure timely, accurate transaction recording, and the preparation of financial statements and reports, maintaining adequate internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and adapt to changing federal and state laws, contracts, and accounting practices, implementing necessary changes to comply with organizational policies.
  • Manage accounts receivable and payable to assure accuracy, timeliness, efficiency, and adherence to GAAP and organizational policies.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports for internal and external use, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local governments, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze financial statements for grants, programs, and fund accounting regularly, collaborating with stakeholders to maximize funding and ensure financial activities remain within established parameters.
  • Collaborate with all organizational departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with all financial regulations, policies, and procedures, preparing necessary fiscal and budget reports.
  • Advise and assist departments in improving fiscal procedures, implementing new policies, and training staff, ensuring the development and efficiency of accounting and administrative personnel.
  • Coordinate annual financial statement, single, vendor, and 403b audits, ensuring the accuracy of reported transactions and the maintenance of required documentation for successful audits.
  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance with internal controls, and timely submission, while managing vendor and external partner relationships to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance.
  • Lead and develop the accounting department's staff, promoting optimum performance through cross-training, resource allocation, and supporting professional development, ensuring redundancy for critical functions and efficient operation.
  • Promote an inclusive, diverse, culturally competent, and respectful work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.

Preferred

  • CPA or CMA.
  • Non-profit accounting.
