Guido’s La Grotta is a cheese and specialty food island located in the center of Guido’s Fresh Marketplace. We specialize in quality, freshness, and care of all of the many cheeses (over 125 varieties!), meats, and various other delicious products we curate and sell. As a La Grotta team member, you will be an integral part in processing and selling a ridiculous amount of cheese (like, close to 1000 pounds per week in our busy season!). You will have the opportunity to share and spread knowledge about cheese, cheesemakers, cheese pairings, and your overall passion for food. The La Grotta team is extremely passionate about cheese and specialty food, and we are looking for someone with similar enthusiasm to join our team.

Experience with food in a culinary or retail setting is a significant plus. We are looking for someone who can commit to a flexible 25 hours or more per week. Weekends and holidays are a must. Duties and role can evolve with experience.

Shifts: This can be a full-time or part-time position. One weekend day availability is a must. Shift times are a mix of morning and afternoons.

Pay Range Up to $18.00/hr, commensurate with experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cutting and wrapping cheese and specialty food items for sale
• Maintaining a clean and organized workspace and department
• Assisting customers with product selection and culinary guidance
• Maintaining a working knowledge of our wide selection of products
• Properly caring for and storing product
• Maintaining floor samples and attractive product displays
• Assist customers with basic non-cheese-related inquiries

Requirements

• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Cheese is heavy. Bring your muscles.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Self-motivated but willing to follow directions
• Comfortable being able to cut cheese and interact with customers, sometimes simultaneously.
• Our production space is located on the sales floor and you must be able to provide great service to the customer while maintaining productivity.
• Must love food.

Moderate to expert level English speaking, writing, and reading is required to complete this position. A candidate must be able to interact and communicate with customers directly in order to help them find products and answer their product questions.
