SUMMARY STATEMENT
This Sr Microsoft Systems Engineer provides comprehensive and progressive level 3 support for front-end and back-end infrastructure components. The incumbent will assist with the design of the implementation of M365 and provide ongoing support, acting as subject matter expert of the M365 tenant. The engineer provides input into cost estimations and project plans, prepares, and maintains technical documentation including user guides, scorecards, and reporting to assist with the ongoing operations and maintenance of technology solutions. This role leads efforts, oversees work results, provides training and serves as a technical resource for other IT systems on projects, systems or initiatives. The incumbent will be assigned additional projects, systems, and initiatives based on business demands.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Systems Design (50%)
* Researches and assists in designs solutions for general maintenance requests to resolve system problems.
* Prepares detailed system requirements and assists in functional design solutions for new products/functionality and enhancements to existing products/functionality.
* Facilitates and/or partners with other IT staff to facilitate a systematic process for capturing requirements. Works with operational business customers and other IT partners to capture requirements in a standard format that can serve as the foundation for developing technical documentation.
* Works with Developers and other IT staff to determine system components and functional flow of components and data between components.
* Clarifies design expectations. Answers business and technical questions. Researches and involves appropriate parties to resolve more complex business and technical issues.
* Continuously assesses systems as business direction changes for impacts to existing designs. Understands impacts and works as appropriate to determine the best solution.
* Provides consultative support for the systems within their product family.
* Collaborates with the operational business customers and other IT staff in the design and development of system requirements to ensure both fulfill the business and technical requirements.

System Maintenance (45%)
* Designs, implements, and supports Microsoft Suite of products to include but not limited to Office 365, Windows Server, Azure, Intune and related technologies.
* Analyzes business requirements to determine technical requirements and identifies impacted areas/systems/processes and evaluates alternative solutions.
* Assists in the migration of on-premises technologies to public and private cloud hosted technologies including Microsoft Azure.
* Provides well-written and effective professional and technical documentation.

Project Management (5%)
* Provides input into forecasting and project-planning for scope/requirements documents and/or vendor contracts to minimize risk to on time, cost effective solution fulfillment.
* Prepares technical documentation and deliverables including flow charts, models, and procedures, user guides, scorecards and reporting.
* Ensures adherence to practices, standards, policies and procedures.
* May liaise with vendors as assigned.
* Prepares detailed test scenarios and assists in test execution for various system components.
* Advocates effective solutions that are flexible to accommodate future enhancements.
* Builds consensus and relationships between business, IT teams and BRMs.
* Accountable for clearly linking the IT solution to the business vision/strategy while coaching junior engineers to help them understand the business priorities.

Performs other duties as the supervisor may, from time to time, deem necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* High School Diploma or GED
* 8 years related work experience. This includes progressive IT experience administering and managing a Microsoft 365 tenant.
* Experience with Microsoft SCCM/Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
* Experience in Cloud or on-premises virtualization.
* Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of typical architecture standards and ability to apply them in their design work.
* Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
* Ability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback to improve performance.
* Ability to communicate technical information clearly and articulately.
* Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
* High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy.
* Thorough knowledge and experience of systems, subsystems, development methodologies, systems architecture, tools and processes that support the assigned business initiative or system.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelors' degree in IT related field
* Good understanding and experience with the business processes and systems used by the Operational Business Customers.
* Hands on experience with Active Directory, M365, AD Domain Migration
* Azure certification
* Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
* Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate
* Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate
