Cottonwood Cove Resort and Marina, located with the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and managed by Guest Services, is now hiring!

Pay: $14-15/hour

JOB SUMMARY

The Moorage Consultant is responsible for overseeing all aspects of boat slips and dry storage rentals while providing excellent customer service and ensuring maximum occupancy rates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain an accurate master list of all slips and spaces (occupied/unoccupied) and update on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a detailed waiting list of prospective slip and space renters.
  • Receive when notice of an impending vacancy is received.
  • Contact (call, email, mail) prospective renters to notify slip/space vacancy.
  • Prepare and issue new moorage contracts and collect rental deposits and fees.
  • Receive and review moorage contracts for accuracy; maintain record keeping of customer information and up-to-date insurance policies as needed.
  • Account for all money received, run daily reports and balance to daily sales receipts (DSR) for moorage deposits received.
  • Accurately fill out deposit slips and prepare daily deposits.
  • Aid moorage customers' requests directly or through proper referral.
  • Track monthly rental fees received; prepare and mail notice to delinquent payers.
  • Impound and lien boats belonging to non‑paying customers.
  • Prepare occupancy, receivables collection, and customer requests reports as needed.
  • Enforce marina contract and house rules by informing management of infractions and proceeding as directed.
  • Write up marina work orders.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a polite attitude to promote professionalism and a high standard of excellence.
  • Answer incoming phone calls in a timely, professional and courteous manner.
  • Greet and assist customers and employees (in-person and over phone) with questions and requests and respond/resolve in a timely, courteous and accurate manner.
  • Respond to and resolve customer complaints timely and professionally.
  • Calmly, effectively, politely and professionally deal with upset or unruly customers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store and supply areas at all times to include dust file cabinets, sweep and mop floors, empty trash/recycle bins, etc.
  • Communicate with customers, Park Service and employees by VHF radio.
  • Abide by and enforce Emergency Procedures and handle emergency phone calls as necessary.
  • Abide by and enforce all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Program policies and procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Provide information to customers regarding the resort, the general area, and all upcoming resort activities.
  • Perform boat and/or PWC orientations to train and instruct customers on the safe and proper use of all rental boats and equipment and obtain customer acknowledgment for completed training.
  • Provide information to customers regarding rental vessels and vessel rental procedures and requirements.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years accounts receivable work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years customer service work experience or similar experience with heavy customer interaction.
  • Six months prior work experience using a cash register, POS system and credit card machine.
  • Minimum 1 year of recreational boating experience.
  • Prior experience with general cleaning supplies.
  • Prior work at a marina or resort operation preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of recreational boats including knowledge of safe boating operations and good boating and safety skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of proper moorage techniques and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to file alphabetically and numerically and maintain organized records and filing systems.
  • Excellent guest relations skills to calmly, effectively, politely and professionally resolve guest problems and concerns.
  • Knowledge of basic office procedures and ability to operate office equipment including copy machine, fax, telephone, PC, and 10-key calculator.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) and Internet.
  • Ability to learn and/use in-house software program (Itinio).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication and time-management skills.
  • Good phone etiquette and demeanor.
  • Consistently friendly, helpful telephone and in-person demeanor
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good math skills.
  • Proper and accurate money handling and cash counting skills.
  • Honest and trustworthy.
  • Knowledge of proper use of cleaning supplies and proper cleaning techniques.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES

  • Climb stairs and walk/move on a variety of surfaces including tiled, carpeted, concrete, unpaved, uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces.
  • Stand and walk on concrete and unpaved surfaces for 8 hours daily.
  • Walk/move around within buildings and property.
  • Balance/stabilize, stand/remain upright and walk on uneven and moving surfaces (marina docks and boats on water).
  • Step into and onto boats from docks and back to docks safely and repetitively.
  • Turn and twist repetitively
  • Reach forward and overhead
  • Bend, kneel, stoop and/or squat repetitively
  • Walk/work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including extreme cold, hot and stormy weather up to 2 hours at a time.
  • Carry and use a VHF radio.
  • Operate cash register, POS system and credit card machine in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment.
  • Lift and move up to 30 pounds.
  • Close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
