Guardian Management is Hiring a Food Services Director - 2508 Near Beaverton, OR

Guardian has a need for a Full-Time Food Services Director to join our experienced and committed team at Creekside Village!

Creekside Village is a 120-unit senior independent living apartment community in Beaverton, OR.

The Food Services Director will be responsible for managing all dining and kitchen staff and will ensure that safety and health guidelines are being followed at all times. This position guarantees service of appetizing, attractive, nutritious meals to residents prepared according to the highest food sanitation standards served in a pleasant dining room environment.

The ideal candidate will have at least three (3) years of food service experience as well as prior supervisory/management experience. We are seeking a dynamic self-starter who enjoys leading others and excels in a fast-paced food service environment. The ideal candidate will be friendly, communicative, and comfortable overseeing other staff.

Compensation: $DOE benefits.

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations. The requirements listed below are representative, but not exclusive of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid food handler’s card.
  • Must maintain ServSafe Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification.
  • At least three years of experience in food services related industry.
  • At least three years of experience in supervisory role.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills and basic understanding of property budgets and financial accounting.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in a timely manner; both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to complete company training requirements for this position within pre-determined deadlines and attend other training sessions as required.
  • Possess the knowledge of basics of kitchen/dining room appliances and tools.

Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Represent Guardian in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Support Executive Director in managing all property operations in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws (Fair Housing, Landlord Tenant Laws, OSHA, etc.).
  • Responsible for delegating tasks, training, and scheduling of all kitchen and dining room staff. Develop, hire, discharge, evaluate performance, coach and discipline staff with direction from Executive Director, Portfolio Manager and Corporate HR Department.
  • Educate and train food services employees regarding food services related issues, including but not limited to the following:
    1. Menus and recipes, including for special diets or diet textures
    2. Food sanitation and storage
    3. Portion control
    4. Meal presentation, including plates and service carts.
    5. Dining room service
    6. Dishwashing and kitchen cleaning
    7. Employee safety
    8. Other food services issues
  • Complete monthly work schedule for food services employees and alters as needed. Obtains back-up food services employees to help with coverage for absences and leave coverage. DSD may be required to work shifts that do not have adequate coverage.
  • Plan and purchase all food items necessary to prepare meals according to regular and extended menus and recipes as well as for alternate menu choices, necessary snacks and any special functions. Adhere to food services department budget through appropriate staffing, careful purchasing, thorough inventory control, and consistent maintenance and submission of all budget-related records and forms.
  • Makes sure that all meals are prepared according to menu and recipes in accordance with company and sanitation standards, including for special diets and textures. Assures necessary snacks are available at appropriate times, that meals are consistently appetizing and presented well, and that all food sanitation, portion control and food storage policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Assure consistently prompt and courteous dining room service and handle food and food service complaints in a gracious and prompt manner.
  • Enforce all safety policies and procedures to protect food services employees and adheres to all other food services policies and procedures (i.e. kitchen cleanliness and organization).
  • Manage the food services component of all banquets and special events.
  • Accurately record time worked, adhere to time keeping guidelines including reviewing and approving site staff time records on a daily basis as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships between departments and with coworkers. Prepare and lead all site staff meetings, including monthly safety meetings, and document meeting minutes to submit to the corporate office.
  • Follow confidentiality guidelines for all resident, property, owner, and Guardian information at all times.
  • Liaison with other departments to provide a team approach to the management of the property and excellent service to residents.
  • Constantly strive for improvements in work process and results to better meet resident needs, ownership goals and objectives, and company standards and expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Portfolio Manager.
