Guarantee Trust Life is Hiring a Senior Vice President of Administration Near Glenview, IL

Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company is a long-standing leader in life and accident & health (A&H) insurance. Founded in 1936, GTL provides a portfolio of competitive, value-driven health, accident, life, and special risk insurance programs to individuals, families, and groups across the country.

Reporting to the CEO and Assistant COO, our Senior Vice President of Administration provides strategic leadership for GTL’s operational functions of the company including our Information Technology, New Business, Claims, Customer Service, Policyowner Service, Purchasing and Document Management departments.

In leading these areas, you will identify and execute the implementation of strategic priorities, guide process improvements, and set and achieve performance targets to deliver positive customer service experiences and help the company achieve its key results.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and implement long-term strategies for achieving best-in-class service while meeting expense and productivity targets.
  • Work closely with Sales, Financial, IT, Legal and Human Resources departments to align the company’s business plans and initiatives with technical opportunities and administrative requirements.
  • Chief Privacy Officer: Primary responsibility for directing privacy and security programs.
  • Corresponding Officer for LOMA, AHIP, and ACLI.
  • Oversight of a total staff of approximately 180 people (direct and indirect) and responsible for an expense budget of $15 million.
  • Provides periodic guidance to the Building Manager.
  • Oversees management of GTL's new administrative office in Omaha, Nebraska, expected to open in Q2 of 2024.
  • Member of the Senior Management Executive Committee which provides strategic and tactical planning to meet the Company’s goals.

Direct Reports:

  • Chief Information Officer: Responsible for developing and managing IT architecture and internal service operations and integrating emerging technologies with current systems in support of the company's business objectives. Also coordinates departments including infrastructure, operations, Application development, and quality assurance to ensure timely implementation of projects and delivery of services. Also provides a keen focus on maintaining a safe and secure systems environment.
  • Vice President, New Business: Responsible for administration related to issuing policies for agent-sold life and health lines of business. Manages application processing for prompt policy issue. This VP Matrix reports to GTL's Chief Actuary for Underwriting responsibilities.
  • Vice President, Claims and Customer Service: Responsible for the management of claims activity for all lines of business including third-party administrators. Adjudicates and authorizes payment for claims and services all customer requests for existing policyholders. Responsible for the achievement of GTL's Key Results for all other customer-facing functions such as Customer Service, Policyholder Service, and the company's Document Management Center.
  • Purchasing Manager: Provides high-level oversight and support to GTL's purchasing operations and functions.
  • Building Manager: Provides high-level oversight and support of GTL’s office building and corporate campus.
  • Omaha, Nebraska Office Manager: Responsible for (future) oversight of approximately 30 employees located in Omaha, Nebraska.

Qualifications:

  • 15 years of management experience in the insurance or financial services industry
  • Strong IT and operations background
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence and build relationships across the organization
  • Builds and develops high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results
  • Demonstrated strong decision-making, strategic, and critical thinking abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred
