Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools is Hiring a Vice President of Support Services and Operations 2024-2025 Near Kansas, MO

The Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools serves 1600 students from PreK-12 and is a free, open-enrollment public charter school. Over 96% of our students are Latinx. Our school system consists of Guadalupe Centers High School, Guadalupe Centers Middle School, Guadalupe Centers Elementary School, and Guadalupe Centers Pre-K. Our system grew out of Guadalupe Centers’ educational programming. Guadalupe Centers is the longest continuously operating agency serving the Latinx community in the US since 1919. Our roots in our community run deep.

Summary:

The Vice President of Support Services and Operations plays a pivotal role in overseeing and supporting various departments within the educational institution. This position requires a dynamic leader with a comprehensive understanding of human resources, student services, maintenance, and federal programs. The incumbent will collaborate with the Chief of Schools and other administrative personnel to ensure efficient operations and the fulfillment of organizational goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position will be the supervisor of the Human Resources Department, Communications Department, and Student Service Department personnel. The direct reports to the Vice President of Support Services and Operations will be the Communications Director, Student Services Director, Assistant Director of Human Resources Department Administrative Assistant


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Human Resources:
    • Has oversight of employee enrollment in benefit programs, such as group life, medical, dental, accident, and disability insurance, investments, and FSA.
    • Has oversight of the maintenance of the employee files, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality (i.e. unemployment claims, verifications of employment, I-9 status, and State regulations).
    • Ensure that employee listings, vacancies, and new hires are supported through the entire cycle of position fulfillment.
    • Supervise, support, and develop the HR and Communications staff.
    • Maintain professional knowledge of new regulations that affect everyday operations for staff personnel, and meet all program needs.
    • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable Human Resources, Federal, State, and Pre-K-12 requirements.
    • Support managers in coaching, disciplining employees and counseling employees and supervisors.
    • Engage employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention in all programs.
    • Update and maintain employee files regarding the tracking of raises based on years of experience and education in addition to ensuring appropriate staff have certification requirements, are HQT, or have a plan in place based on the Charter and the Department of Education for the State of Missouri.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    • Participate in GCI/GCCS Fund Development Committees.
  • Communications Department:
    • Supervise work associated with timelines for external communications, including newsletters and other interdepartmental communication.
    • Oversees and supports the work associated with school-related pages on the Guadalupe Centers website.
    • Support work with communications counterparts at Guadalupe Centers.
    • Offers guidance and oversight with regard to communicating branding guidelines to promoters and residents.
    • Provides support when addressing requests from the media and guides any needed responses.
  • Student Services:
    • Supervise the implementation of student support services, including counseling, special education, health services, and extracurricular activities.
    • Collaborate with school counselors and administrators to address student needs and promote a positive learning environment.
    • Develop strategies to enhance student engagement, attendance, and academic achievement.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of student services programs.
    • Support the family engagement initiatives.
    • Support and supervise enrollment and admissions procedures
    • Develop, update, and implement the Parent-Student Handbook
    • Oversee and support discipline hearings for the schools.
    • Outreach and community partnership with area and regional organizations
  • Maintenance and Facilities Management:
    • Coordinate school maintenance efforts and upkeep of school facilities, grounds, and equipment.
    • Collaborate with GCI maintenance staff and contractors to ensure timely repairs and renovations.
    • Assist in developing long-term maintenance plans and budgets.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Safety/Security
    • Coordinate with KCPD on school safety officers
    • Monitor and support Centegix safety system, including badge administration, training, and contracts.
    • School Liaison for the GCCS Board Safety Committee
    • Lead and support the school building and organization Emergency Response Team.
    • Collaborate with the after-school program to ensure alignment of safety procedures.
  • Federal/State Programs Administration:
    • Manage federal grant programs and funding allocations.
    • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and reporting requirements.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement programs aimed at improving student outcomes.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of federal programs and make recommendations for improvement.
    • Oversee LEA “Grant Management”, provide follow through, and mentor allocation accountability and effectiveness/results.
    • Supervise and oversee the McKinney Vento/Homeless program for the LEA.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
    • Liaise with other administrative personnel, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders.
    • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on matters related to HR, student services, maintenance, and federal programs.
    • Represent the institution at meetings, conferences, and events as required.

  • Effectively communicate with people in potentially stressful situations.


Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in School Leadership, education, or related field. Doctoral degree preferred.
  • 8 years of experience working in school or district leadership.
  • Bilingual ability preferred (English required and Spanish preferred)


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
