Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools is Hiring a RBT Registered Behavior Technician - 2024-2025 Near Kansas, MO

The Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools serves 1600 students from PreK-12 and is a free, open-enrollment public charter school. Over 96% of our students are Latinx. Our school system consists of Guadalupe Centers High School, Guadalupe Centers Middle School, and Guadalupe Centers Elementary School, including our PreK. Our system grew out of Guadalupe Centers’ educational programming. Guadalupe Centers is the longest continuously operating agency serving the Latinx community in the US since 1919. Summary
:

A registered behavior technician, or RBT, implements care plans for children. RBTs also assist with the delivery of behavior analysis services and practices. These professionals care for children with a wide range of behavioral challenges and collaborate with peers. They assist in the implementation of care plans and work with children one-on-one in the school setting. They facilitate behavior change by modifying maladaptive behaviors and replacing them with appropriate behaviors.


Responsibilities:

  • Follow behavioral health plans to provide beneficial and effective care to students.
  • Participate in counseling and meeting sessions
  • Answer questions from students and their families
  • Assist students with day-to-day tasks
  • Observe student behaviors to collect data
  • Teach specific skills required for skill acquisition and maladaptive behavior reduction
  • Nurture a child’s social abilities
  • Inform parents and other caregivers about behavioral intervention findings


Additional Considerations:


  • Behavior reduction

An RBT seeks to reduce certain maladaptive behaviors. The RBT must be able to follow the behavior reduction protocol created by the School.


  • Documentation and reporting

It is important to keep accurate records and report results and data. These recordings can help determine which aspects of treatment are working and which are not.

Requirements:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Complete 40 hours of training under the supervision of a BCBA, BCaBA, or BCBA-D
  • Undergo a background check within 180 days of completing the RBT certification application
  • Complete and pass the RBT Competency Assessment, which involves an assessor watching and rating an applicant’s performance on RBT exercises.
  • Pass the RBT exam
  • Follow the RBT Ethics Code
  • Bilingual ability; English required and Spanish preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the school and classroom.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
