GTS Technology Solutions is Hiring a GIS Technician Near Waco, TX

GTS is hiring a skilled GIS Technician for one of our clients. The GIS Technician will be responsible for assisting in the creation, analysis, and maintenance of geospatial data and maps. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in GIS software, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, compile, and organize geospatial data from various sources, including aerial imagery, GPS, and field surveys.
  • Ensure data integrity and quality through validation and verification processes.
  • Maintain databases and update GIS datasets as needed.
  • Create maps and visualizations using GIS software, such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
  • Conduct spatial analysis to support planning, decision-making, and problem-solving.
  • Generate reports and presentations based on spatial data analysis.
  • Perform quality control checks on GIS data and maps to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or errors in data.
  • Document procedures and standards for data management and analysis.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to staff and clients on GIS-related inquiries.
  • Troubleshoot GIS software and hardware issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of GIS solutions and workflows.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including planners, engineers, and environmental scientists, to support project objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in GIS software, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with spatial analysis techniques and tools.
  • Familiarity with GPS technology and data collection methods.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
